GE Course

Does anyone have the list of GE courses required to graduate? I’ll be majoring in Biological Sciences if that makes a difference in terms of GE reqs.

The reason I am asking is so I take the right course over the summer. One that counts and eliminates a requirement.

THANKS! ~

Check here: [UC Davis General Catalog | General Education Requirement](http://registrar.ucdavis.edu/UCDwebcatalog/ugraded/gereqt.html) :)

It’s basically
6 GE courses in topical breadth—3 courses in each of the two subject areas other than your major’s assigned area (so Arts and Humanities and Social Sciences)
1 GE course in social-cultural diversity
3 GE courses in writing experience

^ Thanks! I found it shortly after. :D

Question: I’m confused… Some courses are on both lists, Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences. Does that mean two courses can knock out 4 GE Course requirements?

Look next to the course name and see if D and W appear next to it…I think that means that course satisfies two GE requirements.

So here’s what I learned.

Arts and Humanities:
History 17A D W(AP Credit)
History 17B D W(AP credit)
Philosophy 1 D W(College Credit)
Philosophy 14 D W(College credit)

Arts and Humanities - 3 courses CHECK
Social and Diversity course(s) - 1 course needed CHECK (The above four courses can be used for Social Diversity)
Writing Experience(s) - 3 courses CHECK ( The above four courses are valid for W courses too).
Social Science(s) - 3 courses left!

AP’s don’t count towards GE’s

^ really?!

Damnit … So I just need one more class that is in Arts & Humanities.

cutie, you are allowed to use one course to fulfill multiple requirements right?

Like Philosophy can be used for Arts, Writing Experience, and Social Diversity. -

Yeah AP won’t fulfill GE…will JC transfer courses?

^ I think so.

yes u r allowed to double/triple/quadruple dip

dunno about JC courses, but I would imagine they are fine

On that note…what course(s) at Davis will triple? :)

well that depends on what college your major is

but for science/engineering i think one of the religious studies classes is a triple dip

[UC Davis General Catalog | General Education Courses | Arts and Humanities](http://registrar.ucdavis.edu/UCDwebcatalog/GEAH.html)
the ones with a cross/T next to them also count for another college

what’s the point of taking APs?

^CREDITS!!!

i am a year ahead (45 units) in credits, so my pass time is several days ahead of most of my peers

also, taking courses for the second time = A+

oh and also the fact that i am bored to tears in a regular hs class
and they r extremely useful for getting ADMITTED :)

Lol loveflies…I don’t think AP classes are optional, they’re required to get into a UC :P

wait, what do you mean “credits” hahaha

sorry i’m college stupid ; )

you get units/credits for every class you take. usually 4. passing the ap test will usually give you some amount of units.

your pass time is based on the number of units you have
