I want to live and work in Miami, FL or in some part of South Florida. Would it be better for me to go to a regional school like UM, UF, FSU in order to make local contacts? Or would it be better to go to the best possible law school I can?

I think the answer is obvious if I get into a top 10 law school. But what about if its only a top 20 school?

Is money an issue? Will you have to go into debt to go to law school?

Gtown, there may not be anyone on this board who really knows the legal market in Miami. It seems to be a relatively small market and not many entry level hires in a given year.

The best way to find an answer to your question would be to talk with some Miami attorneys. Or, you can go to the web sites of some of the Miami firms and see where their associates seem to be coming from. Often on these web sites, you can even search for attorneys by school. Some national firms have offices in Miami. Chances are most of their new hires come from rather competitive schools. Good luck!

Money is an issue. But, I am of the thinking that itd be worth taking as many loans as I would need to go to a top 10 school because the chances of getting a job coming out of a law school like that are much higher.

Plus, I wouldnt mind living in another part of the country for part of my life that maybe has a larger legal market before I move to South Florida. Honestly, I would go to whatever city I had to if it meant having a job because i know with this economy you cant really be too picky. Hell, I would be ecstatic to have any job coming straight out of law school.
