Geometry Honors Online?

I plan on taking Geometry Honors online starting near the end of this month. Do you think it’s worth it? I’m pretty sure I have the drive to do the course. My main motivation for this course is so I can be in Algebra 2 Honors next year in order to take Chem 1 Honors. I usually hear two different stories about Geo. online.
“Geometry was a breeze and I passed the class with an A” vs. “Don’t take Geometry online! You’ll regret it and I barely passed the class with a C(or D).” Would not having a solid foundation in Geo ruin my chances of getting good grades in Alg 2?

Algebra 2 requires some concepts from geometry depending on if trigonometry is incorporated into your algebra 2 class. Personally, I found geometry honors extremely easy, but didn’t take it online. I’m in Honors Algebra2/trig/pre calc and trigonometry is a lot of geometry. The algebra 2 stuff is basically knowledge of basic algebra. If I had the choice again between honors geometry and regular, I’d go honors. Too answer your questions, yes I think it’s worth it, and if trig is in your algebra 2 class, then you need a little background of geometry.

Trigonometry is way easier than Geometry because it is just memorization, and is usually retaught in Algebra 2 and Precalc. Geometry requires a lot of memorization, so it should be easier online than in person. However, you MUST seek out help if you need it and NOT give up.

Geometry requires a real ability to internalize the concepts and to see the logic in the steps; having a poor teacher can make or break your understanding of the material.

You can get through Algebra II without a solid foundation in Geometry… but I strongly believe that a solid foundation in geometry is important both in life outside the classroom, and that the logical though process it teaches are important in life in general.
