George Washington RD 2020

@fhgirl16 Very well said.

Is anyone else concerned about the many bad reviews of GWU that are online? Is there any current student that can support this negative view of GWU?

@Lana22 Every college will have some negative reviews. While information from current students is very helpful because knowledge is power…it’s best to attend the admitted students day and ask plenty of questions. A GW education is an outstanding education.

@fhgirl16 I agree! I really want to go and if i get off the waitlist I will attend. Its just I feel bad for the college that I will commit to then uncommit if I get in. I mean Im also taking away an opportunity from them, but there is also the risk of not getting into GW. do you have any advice on what i should do?

Hi! Is there a admitted student facebook group? And if not, is it okay for someone to start an unofficial one?

@ew1346 Yes, look at your GW Activity Center. There’s information there about the FB page.

thanks! :slight_smile:

I got accepted with 25k a year! Top choice so far.

I got rejected to GW but got accepted to Georgetown??? Hmm :blush:

@beaglee105 Frank Bruni, a highly respected opinion on the college admissions process recently posted this comment on In FaceBook page in response to a reader:

“Douglas, someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the Common App shares that information with schools. However, many schools will look at a student who seems over-qualified, think, “Ah, we’re the safety school,” and deny admission. Or will track a student’s “demonstrated interest” through visits to the school’s website, etc., etc.”

Do you think this may apply to your stats?

does anyone know what goes on at admitted students day or know a schedule? can parents stay?

@laughandlearn23 Did you receive your package in the mail?

@HappyFace2018 Yes, I did

@laughandlearn23 There seems to be only one event “just for parents”. I think the parents can attend all events. Trying to call GW right now is crazy. I tried to call financial aid and was told that the wait time was 18-27 minutes…so I emailed.

@HappyFace2018 oh ok thanks went back in the folder and saw that paper. assuming that parents can attend all events as well considering its such a long day (8am to 5pm!)

@HappyFace2018 When we attended accepted students day last year, the actual itinerary came out kind of late, but there was a full day of activities that we participated in. We did split up at one point, but I think that was so we could cover competing talks/activities.

We are still appealing financial aid and not 100% sure son will attend GW. In order to begin “austerity measures” in case he does attend (and to avoid cruelly taking him to Admitted Students day and then NOT going), we are going to have to skip it. (Fin Aid not answering until Apr 28.) He will go to Colonial Inauguration if we decide GW is a yes. Will missing Admitted day be a huge void in his experience?

@efinand Your thoughtful post indicates that you’ve discussed this with your son. You’ve made it clear to him the sacrifices to be made if the appeal is not successful. Go to the admitted students day.

@efinand Missing ASD will not be a big void and ASDs are as much for parents as they are for students. CI will get him up to speed.

@efinand Hello. This may sound silly, but what are the steps to appeal financial aid?
