George Washington University Transfer (Fall 2012)

I am trying to check GWeb but I don’t know my pin. I was only given a GWID. Does anyone know how to find out what your pin is?

Mine was my birthday in MMDDYY format. I was directed to create my own PIN once I logged in the first time.

So for those of us who haven’t heard-do you think tomorrow will be the day?

I sure hope that we find out today! I am sick of playing the waiting game…I am from Indiana and will be forced to make a huge transition if I get accepted to GWU… Whether I get in or not, I hope to find out today so I can prepare!

Just called in again… *** getting really impatient. They said that they have been telling people that decisions would be out by the end of May (which is tomorrow), but they said it doesn’t seem that will be the case. They said that they can’t give a definite estimate anymore on when decisions will come out. She said transfer are complicated since there are many factors -one being how much room they have after freshmans accept. :(

The end of may is on Thursday the 31st

And I thought the deadline for freshman was May 1st. That’s really annoying because I don’t know whether to register for classes at my current university (I havent yet and I’m probably locked out of a lot of classes). It’s kind of not fair that they’re making us wait for so long. I applied to NYU as well and heard 2 weeks ago and a lot of people were complaining about how late they were sending out their decisions. Very annoying. If the deadline to commit is June 11th then they have to release decisions before that so we have a chance to decide if we want to attend… So stupid

ahaha my bad that’s what I meant, but either way you’re right it’s annoying. This is me being selfish but they need to stop accepting freshmans off their waiting list. No wonder it’s hard for them to figure out how many transfers they can accept when they continue to take kids off their waiting list- dumb. Anyways, I hope you get your classes figured out!

I called again today because I’m neurotically impatient and was told they were making their best effort to get all of the decisions released by the end of the week. Since the deadline to respond is June 11, they honestly can’t notify us much later than the end of this week anyway, so fingers crossed it’s still today or tomorrow!

GWU seems to be really bad with this whole admissions process thing. People were still being notified as late as June 8th last year. Ridiculous.

It’s ridiculous the amount of times I’ve refreshed my iPhone looking up my application status-_- Guess today’s out of the question then?

It is ridiulous. GW has a terrible admissions office. They do this every semester. I say - if they know that the decisions will not be completed until May 31, they should acknowledge that’s the case instead of May 1st as they advertise.
If this office is run like the rest of GW, it would not be a top-tier school.

It may be after may 31st. People have to put a deposit down on other schools. I told them that I didn’t know whether or not I should register for classes at my current university or put a deposit down somewhere else and they just said “we apologize. Our admissions office is under construction” which could possibly be bull

Sounds like bull. Either way it is not an excuse. It says something about their organization and coordination by deciding to go ahead with construction during their busiest season… Has anyone checked the people in charge over there? It’s shocking!

I’m wondering whether or not I should call the admissions office or if that would just be futile? It seems like I wouldn’t be the first one to do so over this delayed decision. I really don’t feel like plunking down the $430 deposit for my other school without a response from GW.

transfers are the absolute bottom priority in the admissions hierarchy, unfortunately. but they need to know the churn rate before admitting anyone, as they are ~50 students from going over the city imposed full time student cap at all times. gw can’t just take students as they apply.

they need to wait for
a) # of transfers out
b) incoming freshman yield rate (which apparently was higher than expected this year)

before they even know how many incoming transfers they can take. it’s usually no more than a few hundred. thus…june.

I called the admissions office and they said that the decisions would be released by Friday because that is their deadline.

Again, if they can’t do it in the time they say, they should probably change the time they say.

I find this amusing - when I called on Tuesday they said before June 1st. Then yesterday they said decisions will go out on Friday, June 1st. This morning they said early next week. When I called just now they said no later than mid June
WOW.

No later than mid-June?? Don’t we have to make OUR decisions to them if we get accepted before June 11th??
