***GEORGETOWN 2020 WAITLIST THREAD***

how exactly do I contact the admissions office to update my resume? Is there a way to identify my admissions rep?
Is a general postal mail to the admissions office enough?

We received an email confirmation. For those who did confirm their interest on the waitlist, I also heard that Georgetown will send out another email sometime during the last half of April asking applicants if they are still interested in remaining on the waitlist.

I didn’t receive a confirmation email and I replied within ten minutes of getting my waitlist letter two days after it was sent out…I’m a little worried.

@admitmemaybe I wouldn’t worry, it seems like most people haven’t received one. I was worried too, so I called admissions and to make sure my name was still on, and they confirmed it was.

There is still one last step here (and my kid went through it last year)…it’s a thing called “Extended Wait List” and it goes out sometime in late May (after the wait list has been named). It’s sent as a letter and you have to return a written reply acknowledging that you’re willing to stay on. I believe it’s only sent to 25 or 30 people and you’re not notified of the decision until June 30. My kid went for it but she was going for SFS and didn’t make it.

One month left! I hope this works out for us I really want to go to Georgetown

I have to say, even if I’d been admitted to every other school to which I applied, Georgetown would still be my top choice. I’m still holding out hope on this one. Their faculty, staff and students are so amazing, and I love the international aspect of he school.

It seems as though being accepted from the waitlist this year may be more difficult than in past years. They accepted 3,276 students this year compared to 3,205 and 3,235 students for 2015 and 2014. This incoming class is capped at 1,580 just like in recent years. I think the key to being considered for acceptance is a strong appeal letter and personal contact with your regional admission’s officer.

With a record-breaking number of applicants for almost every top tier school, I have to concur. Demonstrated interest is always a good way of letting a school know they’re your top choice.

I’ve mentioned that I will matriculate if offered a place in every communication I’ve had with them- just trying to make sure they understand that haha

Well, I’m sure all of you are deserving applicants, and I hope you all get a spot!

Which college at Georgetown did everyone apply to? I applied to the College of Nursing & Health Studies.

@stodghill, how many times have you communicated with admissions since being on the waitlist?

@northstarfx I applied to SFS. I have had 3 email communications with my regional admissions officer: the first was my letter I sent right after being waitlisted which updated her on everything that had changed since I submitted my application in January, the second was a question about my waitlist confirmation because some people received confirmation emails and I haven’t, and the third was an update of a scholarship I received a couple days ago. I doubt I will contact the office again, I’ve just about reached the limit of acceptable times haha

Anyone hear anything?

Nothing yet. I think we should all be getting an email in the next few days asking us if we want to remain on the waitlist.

According to The Hoya, 70-100 students in the class of 2020 will be from the waitlist, which honestly doesn’t sound like a lot, but I think they’ll offer more spots than that because some people will turn them down.

Where has everyone deposited?

@NickDS deposited at UC Berkeley. Love love it there but if I get off the waitlist… Ah I don’t know! Probably Gtown.

UVA

Does anyone know if waitlist notifications come by snail mail, or of they email us?
