@MrElonMusk sorry about before. i’m a lot more relaxed now. what’s really discouraging is that people in the waitlist have a negligible chance of getting in anyways (especially this year), sometimes even a 0%, so it’d be a lot less brutal to receive a rejection instead of holding onto any more hope and sending georgetown more updates. at this point i just want to be done. i truly respect anyone waitlisted who will do anything to get off the list though.
does the waitlist letter have a window or just the rejection letter?

To those who did not get accepted, I know it’s difficult. I did not get into my first choice so many years ago, and went to a great school that in the end was probably a better fit for me. I never looked back after that. In so many ways college marks the beginning of so many decisions and events in life–some work out just as you desire and expect and others go in a completely different direction. This is a simple story I often think about related to this: https://www.cnn.com/2015/09/02/health/who-knows-whats-good-or-bad-wisdom-project/index.html
Wishing you all well.

Still no letter - South CA/Orange County. Not sure what’s happening…
There is email today coming out! I already got mine—rejected.
when did you get yours? We have not received anything - no mail, no email…
My kid 3 years ago made it onto the wait list…they took people off the list (but not her)…she was then added to what they call the “extended wait list”…this is maybe 25 kids from around the world and they don’t find out until late June…in June, she received a note saying that she could not be taken off the list but they would encourage her to enter sophomore year…at that point, she had already accepted another college and went forward.
Does anyone know how p.o boxes work out? I’m a U.S. citizen but I live overseas. No mail is coming at the moment and no email has been sent. I’m expecting a rejection, but the wait is killing me.
Has anyone been accepted by email? US citizen but not currently living in the US. It would be difficult to call them so should I just email them?
@mrdilettante With all due respect, as accomplished as your daughter is, all of the applicants have equivalent accomplishments. The bar is set very high to gain admission to the elite schools and Georgetown is no different. The admissions committee is trying to create a whole class and there are so many variables that go into it. This does not mean your daughter was not deserving. I do think her ACT and unweighted GPA were a bit low for Georgetown admission, although not out of the realm of possibility. It is unfair to assume that everyone who gets in has a consultant, etc. This was certainly not true for my daughter last year. She did everything on her own. The only difference I see is that she had a higher unweighted GPA and higher ACT score. Her extracurriculars were equivalent to your daughter’s. Best of luck to your amazing daughter. I love kids who embrace performing arts.
@TS9034 Georgetown is just like any other elite university where race/ethnicity does play a factor in the admission process.
@OptimisticInt What’s your extracurricular?
I’m also a US citizen living overseas and I haven’t received anything. I might call or email, but I guess I’ll just wait until April 1st (although the wait is killing me!). This has been a problem with a few of my colleges actually…
@bartram17 me too, I’m not sure what’s happening either
@bartram17 if you decide to call let us know. The wait is super painful…
call them on Thursday in case they don’t work after that
@collegecrazy2017 your assertion is not quite correct. Georgetown said they would give legacy consideration to descendants of the 272 slaves sold by Georgetown as partial reparations. The school never issued a blanket policy to all African-American applicants.
@GUSFSMom I think you’re misinterpreting what I wrote. I never said people who get in all have coaches. It was more a lament that we couldn’t do more for our daughter; some people have the resources to do more. We don’t. We also have a son who is graduating from Knox College this year (and we’re proud of him, too), but that ongoing expense meant we barely could afford to do anything for our daughter beyond what we’ve done in supporting her myriad efforts to contribute. I have no doubt your daughter’s credentials are great and I’m delighted she’ll have the opportunity. We’ve moved on and are embracing my daughter’s opportunity at Saint Louis University. Good luck to you.
for non-domestic students, I called the admissions office and they said that if we don’t have our decisions emailed by tomorrow, we can go ahead and ask over the phone!
