hi everyone. I am applying regular decision but am very disappointed because my subject test scores areVERY low. Do I even have a chance getting in with a 680 lit, 620 math 2, and a 580 biology? My other stats are strong, but does anyone know how badly these test will affect my chances?
accepted; 34 ACT, 3.9 GPA.
@yellowgreenred a lot of people are always worried about them but GU does holistic review so don’t worry! They wouldn’t place a decision based off of sat iis only
Hi everyone,
I was deferred from Georgetown. However, my deferral letter seemed a little unusual, and I’m really bummed. It said something along the lines of
“I would like you to know that the Committee took into consideration your family’s ties to Georgetown when reviewing your application…Early Action admission is especially competitive as offers are granted only to those candidates whom we are certain would be admitted regardless of the strength of the remaining applicant pool.”
Did anyone else’s deferral letter seem similar to this? This seemed unusually personal… I’m surprised as my stats and everything were above the college average.
@syd24ranger that happened to exactly me also !!!
same
Mine did not. It was a fairly standard letter asking for first semester grades during RD…
@babyeagle18 Generally speaking, such language is used with legacy applicants to assure them that their legacy status was not ignored during Early Action… but to remind them that it is much less of a factor, as compared to Regular Decision. Not being admitted during Early Action as a legacy applicant should not be taken as a sign that your odds of being admitted Regular Decision are any worse, because Early Action is so competitive that only those who would never not be admitted RD (yay double negatives) are admitted.
accepted, 1370 SAT, 3.95 GPA (unweighted), 720 - Math 2, 660 - Physics, 580 - US History
Deferred 35 ACT 4.0 unweighted… I took the SAT IIs (700 Math II 770 US History 780 Biology) in October so that’s probably why
@newkidnewtrix , my daughter is applying RD, plans to major in Bio, but was told her chances are better to apply into Nsg school, vs arts and science? Her weighted GPA is 4.1, 1490 SAT, very strong EC. Also do you know if they care if you send 2 vs 3 subject tests? Thanks
Oops sorry tagged wrong person!!

Help needed: I have had problems with the Georgetown recommendation letters as I believed they were originally done through Naviance, but, when I found they are done seperately, I have been scrambling to fill out the teacher request forms so they can be sent by Wednesday’s 1/10 deadline.
HOWEVER, now I found out that I, “should select a teacher of one of your junior or senior courses according to the following guidelines: Applicants to Georgetown College Science or Pre Medical: a science or mathematics teacher
Languages and Linguistics: a foreign language teacher, Other Programs: a teacher of your choice in a core academic subject.”
As a Biology-Applicant, My Common App recommendations were from a 10th grade Science Teacher and 12th grade English teacher, neither of which would satisfy the requirements.
Does anyone have any idea of what course I should follow/can I apply? I would really like to apply and have done the supplemental essays…
@Mike8899 Yeah I had that same issue so I changed from the School of Business to Walsh. I would ask a science teacher from junior or senior year and tell them your situation and if not, take the risk and ask your 10th grade science teacher.
@IvyDreamfor2022 Okay thanks, I think as a last resort I would have to ask my 10th science teacher and throw up a prayer
My D’s original recommenders did not include a science or math teacher from 11th or 12th grade as the College of NHS wanted. So, she asked her current AP Physics teacher. Thankfully, he got it in over break.
Did anyone forget that Georgetown required all test scores? I did and I am worried. I already sent them two weeks ago, but I had already submitted my app. But they have a form to fix/change anything. Do you think this will hurt my app?
