My daughter who was admitted EA to Georgetown told my husband and me about this site. I just wanted to let you know that the posts where students writes down their “stats” and then asks others who aren’t making admissions’ decisions what they think of their chances for admission are pretty pointless. I can tell you based upon our experience, that Georgetown really does take a “holistic view”. I suspect most smaller schools do as well. Big state schools have to be a bit more formulaic given the pure number of applications they receive. There were parts of my daughter’s application that by the numbers would indicate she wouldn’t be accepted EA. There must have been other things that the admissions’ committee found compelling. So…my advice - for what it’s worth - is to not overthink this. Write your essays, submit your application and try to relax. Your success in life is not determined by where you go to undergrad. I work with derelicts who went to Ivy League Schools and brilliant people who went to schools with no prestige whatsoever. It will all be fine.
by 1/10 deadline does that mean tonight (the 9th) by 12 midnight or tomorrow (the 10th) by 12 midnight???

Tomorrow 12 AM. I believe all application deadlines work that way: due the day of at midnight.
thank u! i assumed that was it since it was how the common app deadlines work but just wanted to be sure – seems like gtown does everything a little differently w applications
Did any of y’all upload a photo of yourselves to the supplement?
My D did, @IvyDreamfor2022 .
Was the Georgetown Application Deadline 11:59 p.m Jan 10th Eastern Time or local time? I submitted before 11:59 Eastern time, but am just curious since I wasn’t able to find a straight answer elsewhere
I think Eastern.
Do we never get a portal?
@Miggy2022 - Just in case you were wondering…you’re wise words did not fall on deaf ears. I totally agree. My son applied EA and was deferred. He has a very diverse and unusual background, along with spending two summers at Georgetown at their summer institutes. I see the stat’s being posted and while all candidates have incredible numbers/resume’s (even in excess of my son’s), I feel a sense of “calm”. I’ve heard of people being accepted to numerous “top 20” schools and there is often no common denominator. Granted, they all have wonderful academics but there are so many factors that it is really tough to tell someone how likely they’ll be admitted here online. My son may or may not hear good news in a month or two. Not going to lie…I’ll be a bit disappointed if Georgetown says “no” but as you said, I too have met my share of “less than successful” graduates from the Ivies and many CEO’s from state universities. Good luck to all and hang in there.
I am sure it was there before but I just logged on to the portal and noticed there’s a tab for financial aid now. No award info yet, but I did freak out for a second…
Where? What portal?
@bigchoices2018 , are you talking about logging in after you hit the link in the email they sent after sending in your application? if so, where do you see the financial aid tab? My D just had access to her submitted application and could see how her GC and 2 teachers submitted their letters of recommendation.
Ohh, are you accepted already @bigchoices2018 ? And do you have a portal because you are accepted?
@Winky1 Yes, accepted early and the portal has been super generic until yesterday when I noticed the FA tab. Which is really the most important
Congratulations, @bigchoices2018. Have you made the big choice and decided to attend Georgetown? haha
Lol the reply didn’t post! It will sort of deprnd on the money :-SS
