Does anyone know how many were actually waitlisted to the College? I know the 4% stat about getting in off of the wait list but wondering how many were put on the list. Are you sending other supporting materials, if so what? I don’t want to over-bombard them … thoughts?
@2soccer I sent them an update on my grades/activites + a letter of continued interest!
I’m planning on following up with my colleges 2 weeks after I sent the update. I think you don’t want to pester them by contacting them 3 or more times per week, but you still want to show interest so checking in once every two weeks or so is the probably the best solution ( you want to show them you are still very interested, but at the same time you have to give them some space to breathe)
I think oldfort has some really good posts on waitlists, you should check them out!
@gobiggreen1 , thanks for starting this thread. S was waitlisted for SFS. They enclosed a table showing zero students in the last two years have been admitted off the SFS waitlist (better odds for other majors at GU), but like others said, there’s always faith. GU remains his first choice so he/we will have to be patient. Letter of continued interest and updated award has been sent.
We are taking a pass and going to 1a. Never looking back. She’s very excited now that a decision has been made and can focus on finishing strong. She’s the val and didn’t want any one passing her. She was very unfocused and emotional during decision month
@privatebanker, where is your daughter going?
USC. Southern cal
Hi everyone! I got wait listed at the Walsh School. I committed to Berkeley so it will be a hard choice deciding where to go if I do make it off the wait list.
Does anyone know if Georgetown is able to open a document from Google docs?
Tell them you sent your answer by mail. But if they get the usps app they can tell what you decided by the amount of the stamp.
Now that May 1 has passed, hoping GU will inform us about waitlists in the next week or so.
@nomorelurker , my girl got her letter out yesterday, and it says they will mail final decisions by May 15th. The ad coms will meet during the first 2 weeks of May to decide fates. Also, they have offered spots on an extended WL in the past.
@Winky1, thanks for the update. The odds are pretty low to get off the waitlist and my son is happy with his decision at this point, if GU does not come through.
@Nomorelurker , my D is getting more invested with her committed school, so I am glad. I am not sure if she would switch now. Who knows. But she does want to see these WLs through.
@Winky1, no doubt we should be proud of the accomplishments. Waitlist at Cornell and GU are not easy to do and WashU and GU waitlists for my S, nothing was left on the table. Now its just a numbers game as to each department and how they want to balance things out.
My counselor called GU today and they said they were not planning on using the waitlist much this year. More students accepted than they expected
@800bday , did they specify individual colleges within Georgetown?
do you know on average how many are getting off??
It only takes one!
Does anyone know, based on past years, when students can expect their letters about their status? This week, like before Friday?
@winky1 Last year they mailed letters on May15th
