Hey guys. Thought I’d start one up cause they made one last year I think. Which school did you apply to within Gtown, why do you think you were waitlisted, and what are you gonna do about it?
I was waitlisted by SFS after being deferred EA. I think the only reason I was waitlisted instead of rejected was because of how much interest I showed. My interview went fabulously (by far my best) and he told me to send frequent updates, each time emphasizing how GU was my first choice and if accepted I intended to matriculate. After I was deferred, my interviewer even emailed my admissions counselor on by behalf advocating for me a second time. Him and his wife have 12 degrees from Georgetown between the two of them, so part of me thinks it was a courtesy decision.
Oh well, I’m not expecting to get in off the waitlist (how many get spots anyways?), so I at least I got into Cornell!
Georgetown McDonough waitlist. I didn’t have the best stats, solid letter of recs, and didn’t have outstanding extracurriculars/personal statements.
SFS waitlist. Had some pretty good extracurriculars, particularly for foreign service. GPA and ACT weren’t stellar, but were well into the average range.
Is it recommended to update them? Tell the admissions officers that it’s still my first choice?
Basically any information would be appreciated
I was waitlisted too, which I suppose I’m sorta grateful for now considering Ivy day was a bloodbath for me. I think I will ask my GC to call them later this month to see if they can get any insight, then send a letter of interest to my regional admissions officer, along w updated resume and maybe a recording of a composition I’ve been working on.
Would it hurt to not send updated grades? They’re not pretty anyway.
Hi Waitlisted here for the College after an EA deferral.
I had really good essays and I’m sure great letters of rec from my GC, teachers, and interviewer. I took challenging courses, both AP and IB.
I showed a lot of interest: interview, visit, multiple emails re-affirming my interest…
The only thing I could think of would be my SAT score. I had a 760 reading but only a 620 math. And since they don’t accept the writing, they didn’t get to see my 720 to make me look good.
Overall, I think it’s an honor to be on the waitlist and that I was good enough that they would allow me place if available. Definitely going to keep my name on the list. I heard last year they accepted more than 100 people off the list. So who knows what will happen. What’s important is to choose between BC, Washington and Lee, and UW-Madison and get excited about them since I have no idea what will happen with GU…
Good luck!
Hi everybody! I was waitlisted for Georgetown College. I think that I was waitlisted because I didn’t personalize my essays enough and I only had one letter of rec (which was adequate).
I’m very honored to be on the waitlist and will stay on it!
@arigatogirl I’m choosing between BC and NYU, and will most likely lean towards BC!!
I think I was waitlisted because of my mediocre grades. It might’ve just been a “courtesy” thing, like oh, everything else was great except your ugly transcript. But I recently read an article in which Dean Deacon said they “don’t play games.”
If anyone has a link to the waitlist page, could they send it to me? I lost my letter and the link with it.
sfs waitlist.
Major time senioritis with 1st semester grades (midterm). 85 and 80 in 2 APs.
I guess I was too arrogant and nearsighted. I was just hoping that Id get admitted somewhere…
waitlisted at 5 schools ROFL, (mit, columbia, swarth, amherst c, sfs)
also, my sats reeked of mediocrity. Shouldve studied a bit…
Committing to either SUNY stony brook, CUNY baruch, or vassar. idk.
edit: @grimsby,
this is on the letter,

I was waitlisted after being deferred EA. Pretty mad that they would jostle me around like this, but I guess I’ll stay on the waitlist for the hell of it. Its probably because of my SAT math score (620), even though my reading was 770 and writing was 710 (but they don’t even take that into consideration) and my SAT II’s weren’t particularly stellar. My first semester senior grades were the best grades I’ve ever gotten though, and my current UW GPA is 3.93 (out of 4). My interview was alright I guess…it was the first college interview I did so it didn’t go as well as my other ones, but I don’t think it went that badly.
I’m also waitlisted at UChicago and UPenn and, quite frankly, I’m much more interested in getting of the waitlist at either of those schools. Not sure where I’m going to decide to commit by May 1.
Do you guys think that if of the two people who got in from my school, neither commits to Gtown, I have a higher chance of being accepted off the waitlist?
34 ACT top 3% of the class, good ec’s, great essays (I think), good letters
SFS
They took like 15% out of SFS waitlist last year so I’m going to demonstrate the hell out of my interest and hope that gets me a spot in DC next year. Ivies, Duke, and Stanford all sent me one of those nice rejection letters. Waiting on Chicago and Georgetown otherwise it’s honors at UCI or UCD or regular UCLA.
when is the deadline for telling them you want to stay on the wait list? I lost my letter
I think no deadline. You should do it now. what are you waiting for?
I heard a rumour that if you got off the waitlist this time but you did not attend at last. They will black list you in the future?? ? Perhaps , you might confirm stay in the wait list before you send out a letter!!!
@kitty1 lol, how would they black list you?
I don’t know. I just heard people mention??
hi for ur waitlist confirmation did u just get an email detailing ur responses to the online google form???
also where are u emailing ur updates?
