Georgetown Class of 2017 EA/RD Discussion Thread

I’m really freaking out about getting in…I’m expecting a letter tomorrow. I just don’t know if I’m good enough. I get what everyone is saying about college not being the biggest deal in the end and you shouldn’t stress about it too much but I have been wanting to go to Georgetown for as long as I remember. I was born in D.C… My dad was attending Georgetown Law School (he also went to Georgetown undergrad). My mom was at the School of Medicine (she also went undergrad). I have a 2380 on my SATs and an 800 on Math II, 780 on Physics, and an 800 on Spanish. As you may tell by my username, I’m really involved with Model UN–I am the President. I have a 4.45 weighted GPA, I am the President of Key Club, Spanish Club, Native American Cultural Club, and Physics Club…I only lead clubs that inspire me and represent my legitimate interests unlike some people who only use them for college. I am also captain of the girls’ soccer team and am nationally ranked in track (I run 400m hurdles). I also did a summer research program at Columbia University this past summer…it was really insightful. My sophomore year, I started a local volunteer program to help disabled children play sports. Oh I forgot to add, my great grandparents and my grandparents also went to Georgetown. I’m applying to Georgetown College, I really want to continue this family legacy–I hope the money my parents donate will help a little. I’m really freaking out…what do colleges expect these days??? By the way I got accepted to BC, Northeastern, and Tulane (safeties). Arghhhhh this letter better come tomorrow!!! Do you think I have a chance?

is 13% this year’s expected EA admission rate? from where are we deriving this number?

Honestly, I’m sure you all have a better chance than I do, given that Georgetown seems to detest my school. One person has been admitted from my high school in its entire existence; it’s actually easier to get into Harvard or Yale than Georgetown from my school, and my stats aren’t amazing (great ACT and partially great SAT; mediocre GPA).

Why do people post all of their stats before they get the letter? No one here is the admissions counselor and the letters have already been sent. Just wait one more day and you’ll find out the decision that matters

No disrespect to mun123. You have great stats and I hope you get in. I think you have a really good chance. It’s just making me feel like crap

I’m with tiredandanxious. The rest of you are kidding, right? Seems like a lot of First World Problems <a href=“quickmeme: the funniest page on the internet”>quickmeme: the funniest page on the internet;

^hahaha that exactly describes what my parents are thinking right now

Eek! I totally missed people getting admitted/deferred! Freaking out now!

BTW, I’m in Florida and got nothing. Tomorrow’s gonna be another wait by the mailbox day. Congrats to those who got in! To those who were deferred, good luck in RD!

Here are the stats according the the collegeboard website:

Applied early action 6,657

Admitted early action 1,594

Good luck everyone! Yesterday my best friend was admitted to Brown and my two other best friends hear back from Stanford EA tomorrow, so no pressure but accept me Georgetown (:

Those numbers are old

Waiting all the way in California for my letter. It’s the not knowing when the letter will come that is killing me. Well, that and the fact that other people already have their letters.

Hopeful and wishing!

13%? yeah right…

QUESTION: Does georgetown weigh your SAT scores over your gpa? Im wondering because im debating whether or not to apply reg decision. My sat scores are lower than their avg scores (by like 100 each) my unwieghted gpa is an exact match.

when do people in california find out? tomorrow? or saturday? i want to know nowwwwwww. sooo nervous. i can’t concentrate

Bc came out already?

they did?

@chriskiss

BC released only a portion of the deferrals so far. More deferrals will hear today and everyone will hear by next week

OMG this might be the longest and the most desperate waiting… in my life ever…
I can’t even sleep. This is wrecking my nerves…
Anyone got the email for international students?

I couldn’t sleep at all last night. When I did, I had bizarre dreams about mailboxes and deferral letters swimming before my eyes. I am SO freaking out.
