***GEORGETOWN CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD***

I know this thread had been active, so are we posting results here or in the other results thread?

X

I think we should also post in the official results thread, so future applicants have one place where they can compare stats and ECS, since there will be non-results posts on here.

Is there an official results thread? I couldn’t find it. Could someone post the link please?

I’m so nervous it’s not even funny…

The fact that they call is kind of weird considering that they use snail mail instead of email to deliver results. If they used email, everyone could get them and presumably open them at the same time, so it’s ok to call people because it’s safe to assume they’ve gotten their acceptance.

But with snail mail… who knows? I’m in California, and I have school that day, so I won’t read my letter until 3 PM PST at the earliest. And I know I’ll be worrying about getting or not getting a phone call the entire day.

Okay I’m a current freshman in the NHS (I Health/Global Health major). This is how it happens. Either you wait for them to mail it to you, or you call them on the date that it says on their website (December 15 or April 1 for EA and RD). They also call you a couple of days after the 15th of December, and it’s always a friendly voice from your state I don’t use CC much (this is my first post and it may very well be my last), but good luck to each and every one of you, and I hope to see you guys on the Hilltop next year!

So most people are not expected to get letters on the 15th? I live in PA, should I get a letter on the first day?

@MemphisTN did you receive a phone call when you got accepted? And what day?

@thedecidingfate I applied RD last year, so I got a call on the 30th of March last year. I moved in the middle of the application season, so the acceptance letter didn’t reach my house till much later, but I found I got in on the 1st of April

Also, if you guys have any questions about Georgetown as a whole, tell me and I will answer them to the best of my ability

@ecrivain934 Sorry for the SUPER late response. Yes, Leo’s actually is that bad, but they’re revamping the meal plan next year so there is hope!

Hey everyone! I’m a class of 2020 EA admit and I’m currently a freshman in the College. I know it’s a super stressful time so if you guys have any questions about the admissions process or about Georgetown in general (really anything - academic, social, extracurricular, etc.) feel free to message me or reply here and I’ll do my best to respond. Best of luck!

Hi! Which state are you from? Because i’m from NC so im wondering when i should be getting the letter based on past year’s experiences

Hello! I’ve been wondering…how exactly are we notified? People have mentioned calls, letters, and counselors… will it be a combination of all three? If so, will we notified in a specific order? Will we be called first and then expect to receive a letter? Will all decisions be out by 12/15 ?

What I have collected from the posts it that you will be notified by snail mail FIRST. Georgetown also has students (I’m assuming students) call the kids that are accepted. I’m sure they time it so that the letters come first but they cannot control the mail, so in the past a few people got the call first, but not many. My guess is if you live in the continental US you should get the envelope first. I think that’s the story…but it might have changed or I might have it wrong. I also think the general feeling is that letter will start to show up in mailboxes late in the week next week, but again, not sure. Good luck!

@MemphisTN I’m planning on following a premed track. Would it be better to apply to the college as a biology major or to the school of nursing as a human science major? I’m not sure what the main differences would be.

@katekats24 hey, just wanted to mention something that I have heard over the years… It is said that nursing is not a good premed track. Apparently the common prerequisites you need for med school typically aren’t typically met through the nursing program.
I’m sure it’s possible, but you’ll have to maybe take additional classes outside of the nursing major to meet med school requirements.
I had considered the same thing at one point, so that’s what I learned from others

@brendalin99 Hey! I’m from Colorado and I got my letter 3 business days after it was sent, but that was complicated by a snowstorm that delayed mail, so that’s obviously an atypical situation. However, I do know that some people in California got it in just 1 or 2 business days, while some in the Midwest took longer; it was very unpredictable.

@ak2017456 Short answer: I was notified via a letter and call. I have no idea when my counselor found out, because she didn’t even know by the time I told her about my admission after winter break.
Long answer: Georgetown’s notification system is horribly organized. Last year they sent out letters on Friday 12/11 and did phone calls 12/14-12/16. I didn’t get a call by 12/15 (and didn’t have a letter yet) and they posted something saying that they had totally finished making calls so I thought I was deferred, but I called admissions the next morning and they told me over the phone that I actually did get in. I wound up receiving my letter later that day. Again, very disorganized, but hey, here I am typing this answer from my freshman dorm

best of luck!

@collegemomjam Yes, that’s generally correct, but there actually are a decent number (including myself) who hear about it over the phone first. It’s a weird process but it eventually comes together!
