Just called the admissions office… the rep said she can’t confirm if they’ve sent letters yet, but the last date for letters to be postmarked is Thursday, 12/15. She hopes all applicants will receive their letters by Saturday!
@cr062999 the legacy admissions rate is usually about double the normal admissions rate. So yes there’s an advantage, but still about 3 out of every 4 legacies don’t get in
Does it mean that we might get the letter today?
woaaahh… so instead of by thursday, we could potentially have to wait until friday or saturday? ugh.
I have a suspicious feeling that colleges are just trying to ruin our christmases
@cw656565 @livingonaprayer that’s what I’m saying… I’m not about to wait any longer! I wanna know! But at least we know to call on Friday or Saturday if we haven’t received our letters as decisions will most definitely be final then
Fyi to everyone here, The Hoya (the school newspaper) just posted this on Facebook:
“The Class of 2021 early action acceptance rate is the lowest ever at just under 12%. The application pool increased by 11%. Full story to come.”
^^ Well that stinks! Maybe the silver lining is that if they know the stats, they are just about ready to (finally) send the letters out!
Hey guys! So a while ago, I got an email from Georgetown saying I never submitted my SAT scores (when I did), so they told me to send PDFs and screenshots, and to make sure scores were being sent from the College Board ASAP so they could review my application. And I just realized that I never got any sort of confirmation or anything after I emailed them my PDFs (saying they got it or something), so I was wondering if anyone was in this situation and got/didn’t get a reply. I know this is a bit late since they have already made decisions but…
By the way - sorry to anyone who found my most recent comment discouraging. Was hoping to show that they might be getting ready to send out letters as @nocturne21 suggested.
Are we thinking they’ve mailed out decisions already, or that for some reason they’re running a bit behind? Obviously a larger applicant pool could be a factor.
Y’all should follow The Hoya on FB. It posted this an hour ago: “The Class of 2021 early action acceptance rate is the lowest ever at just under 12%. The application pool increased by 11%. Full story to come.”
Holy oh my god thats so low, thats so scary
@katkatkatkat I would call them right away and confirm, even though decisions are more or less made at this point. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to her while applying to University of Michigan and her application was immediately deferred without being glanced at. Hopefully they received your scores the first time around, but better safe than sorry!
If they haven’t mailed them today and do so tomorrow (the 14th), won’t they arrive after the 15th in other parts of the country? Admissions twitter hasn’t posted that letters were mailed, like they did last year on 12/11. Ugh I really hope they’ve sent them out already the stress is killing me.
Wow
That’s 5 points lower than previous years. Scary.
Also I’m sure they’re out already or going out today. They wouldn’t wait for the day before I hope.
Yeah, they might have just not posted it on social media like in past years. I hope they’re on their way… all this waiting is killing me.
@balletgirl17 I would say your suspicion is not without ground …
Hi, everyone, I just looked at the Georgetown University Office of Undergraduate Admissions facebook page, seems the letters were mailed out yesterday
