@balletgirl17 just wondering, where did u get that statistic?
@2017applicantco I can back up the statistic that she has referenced. In my admissions letter it said it was closer to 12 percent though.
Congratulations! I hope you have a great experience, no matter where you go!
Do you mind sharing what state you live in for reference? Thanks a lot!!
Here is the substance of the admissions letter though, for those that desire it:
"Dear XXYY:
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the Committee on Admissions has voted to accept your application for admission to Georgetown University. I am happy to offer you a place in the first-year class for the fall of 2017.
You are to be congratulated on the distinction of being admitted under the Early Action program. Admission was especially competitive as offers were extended only to those candidates whose extraordinary academic and personal accomplishments ensured they would be admitted regardless of the strength of the remaining applicant pool. This year, the Committee on Admissions considered over 7,800 applications, but limited the number of acceptances to approximately twelve percent of those who applied.
Georgetown does not require Early Action candidates to confirm their enrollment immediately. You must observe the Candidates’ Reply Date of May 1, a common deadline for all applicants, but I do hope that we will hear from you as soon as your decision is certain. When you have reached your decision, please return the enclosed Enrollment Agreement Form together with the required non-refundable deposit to confirm your place. Please read the enclosed details carefully for more information regarding your enrollment. I also encourage you to visit the admitted student website at http://admittedstudents.georgetown.edu/ for the most current updates about campus activities.
I am pleased to speak on behalf of the entire Georgetown community in extending to you this offer of admission. I look forward to welcoming you to the University as a member of the Class of 2021."
@2017applicantca on the hoya facebook page (gtown newspaper)
@isk2017 congratulations!!!
@isk2017 congrats!
@isk2017 Didn’t you apply to Stanford early??
Deferred through email LOL, it was in my Junk Mail. At least I got it over with…bad thing is now I have to wait all the way till April. Lmaoooo and Georgetown was my top choice
Congrats!
do you go to the application portal or does gtown send you an email ? I have not gotten a decision yet.
I can’t wait any longer
omg, I’m so sorry! was everyone supposed to receive an email? or are you international?
Go to junk mail if its Dec 15 in your country/state
Oh, the decisions are distributed via email and snail mail? Or is it only email for international students? Sorry for the confusion.
I sympathize with your interview experience!! My alum’s life was awesome but I don’t think I got in a word about myself! Hope all the nodding and smiling and occasional questions made him like me. Tried to get political with me as well… I have no clue how it went from his perspective but I can’t stop thinking about it months later.
I think the people who were notified today are studying abroad Ig
Students who currently reside (i.e., put as their current address on their application) outside the US get an e-mail. Students whose current address is in the US get snail mail.
I liked my interviewer. He gave me his business card and I’ll probably contact him tomorrow about the decision I receive regardless of the result. He was very nice and gave me some questions I was not expecting, but we spent an hour to an hour and a half talking about what I wanted to do, what I’ve done, etc.
I wonder how heavily the admissions committee weighs these interviews vs. other components of the application. I think my recommendations, interview, and essays would be my strong point, while my scores and GPA are approx. what they are looking for, if not a tad bit below. We’ll have to see!
@PatrickFemia Check out their Common Data Set, section C7. Here’s the link: https://georgetown.app.box.com/s/9jl4131mahzqjtajsj24vyaq2tey797b
