***GEORGETOWN CLASS OF 2021 APPLICANT THREAD***

did anyone apply to the business school?

@georgetownmb77

I would’t say it’s “extremely unlikely” they will get in now. GU has stated that it admits 10%+ of deferred applicants… And that means 10% of a smaller pool, without the EA apps that were accepted. So with some math we can calculate the actual EA admissions rate, including deferrals that were accepted.

7,000 apps x .11 = 770 accepts
7,000 apps x .89 (100% - 11%) = 6230 deferrals

6,230 x .10 = 623 accepts

(623+770) / 7000 x 100% = ~20% overall acceptance rate, assuming 10% of deferred get in. Not terrible odds!

No letter yet for me. Not sure whether I will call or wait it out.

Please leave honest opinions

@collegegal36 I think you have a good chance, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if you were deferred (or rejected, if you’re an RD applicant). You seem to have all grounds covered pretty well (test scores are good enough, and essays/recs/interview seem good), and being an URM helps. Good luck! Also keep in mind that my opinion is meaningless.

My daughter got in…she is thrilled. She had a swim meet and made us swear not to open the mail so it sat in the mailbox waiting for her! Will post stats on other page.

We’ve read the deferral stats and so many of you have such amazing applications…hang in there and stay in touch with the school, you are definitely still in the game!

Hey everyone!
Current undergrad here.
For those accepted, welcome to the hilltop! (you’ll be hearing that a lot in the coming months, but seriously welcome) We are so excited to have you added to the family at Georgetown.
If you were deferred, don’t worry about it, keep your heads up and keep pushing forward. Don’t lose sight of your goals and make the most of it. I know it may seem difficult now, but keep in mind that you will end up at the school that is right for YOU, and that’s what matters.
For those who still haven’t heard back, good luck!
Please feel free to reach out and contact me with any questions (whether about Georgetown or the college process or anything in general).

@christina123456 you can add any piece of information you would like that you think would bolster your application. Best of luck and keep your head up.
~Current undergrad at Gtown.

I’m not in the same state as the temporary mailing address that I listed… and sadly there is no way for me to check. Does anyone know if it would be there at my permanent mailing address? Or do you know if I can call to get my decision tomorrow?

@takeme You should definitely be able to call tomorrow to find out whether you got accepted or deferred. They didn’t really seem to need any specific reason for anyone to do that; if you didn’t get a letter to your mailing address today, you can call tomorrow.

Anyone made a facebook group yet?

@hamiltons there is an official facebook group that you can join it should be something like “Georgetown University Class of 2021 Official GAP group”

nothing in the mail in Bay Area, CA today. Planning on calling tomorrow because I don’t want to wait until 8 pm for the mail

Reflection

I am a little discouraged by this and now have shaken up what other schools I will be applying to early. There is the rumor that Georgetown doesn’t accept legacy kids early but who knows (anybody want to confirm or deny)? Hopefully my subject tests will push me over the top (750 math 2, 790 spanish, unknown world)

Strengths: Weighted GPA, SAT Score, Interview
Weaknesses: No subject tests, recommendations

Why you think you were deferred: Might be the legacy thing or it might be the subject test thing or maybe I just wasn’t as good as I thought I was.
Where else have you heard back from: Nowhere

Should I feel as shocked as I am about not getting in? Please help

@hoyasaxa2020 I can’t seem to find it…thanks though!! I might be a little early as not everyone has received their decisions. I’m just so excited ah!!

I’m a bit North of San Francisco. Have you heard of anyone in California getting their letter? Thanks for your help.

@myscreenname26 I haven’t, and I’m in Las Vegas, and didn’t get mine today either! Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

I’m in SoCal and didn’t get anything :frowning:

Also does anyone know the number we call tomorrow if we don’t receive letters?

@TheGrayOne I’m in Arizona and I didn’t get anything either! You can call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions- (202)687-3600-to find out about acceptances tomorrow. They open at 9:00 AM ET.

Is anyone going to call this morning?

I’m going to call @9
