So does applying EA to Georgetown help?? Their website obviously states that it won’t but most people on here are saying it improves your chances minimally…

EA and RD have similar acceptance rates, but if you get rejected from EA, you’re deferred to the RD pool and given a second opportunity to present yourself to the admissions board. So…if you get rejected -> yes! Only a little bit, but you’ll get another chance to go through the process if you’re rejected from EA in comparison to RD, where if you’re rejected, you’re done

Does anyone know if it’s possible to apply to two different colleges so I can double major at Georgetown between two different schools? For example I’m interested in political science and finance, but one is in Georgetown College and the other is obviously in McDonough School of Business. Or can anyone major in one of the disciplines under Georgetown College? I looked on the website and found nothing so any sort of clarification would be great! Thank you!

Also I saw on the Student Profile that about half of students who are at the top of their class get into Georgetown. However, being at the top of your class at a huge school is different than being at the top of your class at a small school, and I’m at the top of my class in a small school (about 50-60 in my class), so I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much of a difference that would make. Thanks so much!

@FutureBulldog I’m pretty sure you can’t double major between schools. I’m pretty sure there is no major in political science with the College anyway; there is a government major, though. Regardless, I think you have to stick to your school. I know that recently they’ve allowed SFS students to have language minors (which are offered at the College), and there’s been a lot of backlash against this policy, so it might change by the time we get there.

Anybody know what a “good” subject test score is for Georgetown?

I got 730 Math 1, 760 Chem, 770 US History

Ur fine i think @SonOfAbraham

Mine were not great: 490 on Latin 600 on Math and 700 on bio. And I want to do sfs. Am I doomed?

In June I got 790 on physics and 770 on math 2 which I am happy with but last year I got a 720 on math 1 and 650 Chem which I think could hurt

Well, they look at it holistically and while it’s great if you get a good score, if you don’t get a terrible score then it looks good that you put the effort to take the test. They really want to see how well-rounded you are, and seeing which tests you would take and how you do on them is a good thing. Anything on the 700s would be looked upon favorably, I think. But you have to submit everything, and they understand that. I think that if you do badly, you should try it again and hope you do better, so then you can submit that score and show that you made an improvement. But I also think it doesn’t matter as much as other things, so you’re not “doomed” if you have a bad score or two.

How is a 1510 superscore(1480 single sitting) for MSB? I know SATs aren’t everything but is it a strong score for Georgetown? No hooks either… Asian male and business seems to be quite competive, but maybe less so than SFS. It converts to a 2190 for context.

@class0f2017 I had a 33 which is about a 1430 and got in, i think you’re okay

@FutureBulldog I’m in the MSB, and basically you can minor in any major offered by the college, so you could major in finance and then minor in government. Alternatively, I believe the SFS offers an international political economy major or something of that nature that combines business with politics

@c0IIegeb0und Ok thanks my SAT converts to a 33 ACT too.

Do you guys think I have a shot at all? Nobody from my school or any school in the area has ever been accepted into Georgetown or any similar top university so I’ve been worried if I really have a shot.

I think it’s really impressive that you did all of that work at the community college, which shows your interests and also that you can handle college work. Your stats and scores are good (definitely good enough), and I think if you spin your essays really well, you have a great shot. Good luck! @Eloquence23

I started filling out the Georgetown application and after putting in general info (address, school, etc) it is already asking me to pay the application fee. I thought we didn’t pay the fee till we actually sent the application in on November 1st. Should I be filling out the application now if I plan on applying EA?

@collegeready129 I recently started my EA application as well and I payed it. If you truly plan on applying it shouldn’t matter when you pay.
