@rhartman24 they called me on my home phone
Anyone in Chicago gotten theirs yet??
anything in Oregon yet?
deferred
Deferred in Florida, sighs. I’m 100% certain it was because of my SAT scores (1960 Overall: 680 Math, 660 Reading, 620 Writing; Subject Tests: 660 Math 2, 600 US History, 570 Literature). I posted all of my stuff in the Results for EA Applicants thread already. Someone please report (if you have it) what percentage of people were accepted in each school (especially SFS pleaaaase)! Hopefully in the regular decision pool my other stuff will be enough to not make my SAT scores not that important, but oh well, now we wait until April 1st for us deferred
Did the people in the results thread not get the “send all scores” memo? Georgetown doesn’t do score choice!!! You can’t just “not send” an SAT I, SAT II, or ACT score!!!
@2016senior2020, I hear you, friend, but right now, it doesn’t do anyone any good to focus on trivial things such as if people forgot to send every single sitting. I took my SAT 3 times, and my SAT IIs multiple times – it is very easy to forget to send one, especially with the subject tests. It is what it is at this point, there’s really no point in focusing on it now. Let’s all try to stay positive – even those who have been deferred absolutely still have a shot come RD cycle!
Deferred in CT
- I didn’t take two subject tests so I don’t think that helped - I come from an area with a lot of rich public and private schools that were probably being assessed alongside my application - my district has little to no reputation for being an “Ivy” or similar supplier. It’s rough, but such is! What is meant to be shall be
Here are some of my stats anyway
SAT: 2220
M: 770
CR: 730
ACT: 32
GPA: 4.5 weighted
Public school
Dual citizen
A full plate of the extracurriculars, volunteer, leadership, and study abroad
@201698 I know there’s nothing we can do in retrospect, but it’s frustrating. College admissions isn’t a time when you should be “forgetting” things - a school’s rule is a school’s rule. If you cheat the system, you should not get in. I played by the rules, and if I got deferred at the expense of someone who cheated the system I will be pissed.
@RandallGrace Was Colorado done last night?
@rachel8297 I’m pretty sure Texas is included in the west coast, but a good general rule is that if you haven’t gotten your letter we probably haven’t called yet! That’s why we call the states that are further away tomorrow, so no worries, that definitely doesn’t determine if you got in or not
@senior4031 My dad is on the interviewer committee, and they sent him a bulletin email with the stats.
What kind of phone number should we be expecting to see show up on the caller ID? So, if it’s safe to say if you live in the south and haven’t received anything then it’s a rejection? When does the rejections come out?
@b33p85 You can’t get rejected. There are only acceptances and deferrals.
@dominoesniall thanks for the reminder! I’ll keep hope alive!!
@201698 I’m with @2016senior2020 on this one. I submitted all my SAT scores, including some low SAT subject tests that I didn’t want to. I don’t know how it’s easy to forget because when I went to send them, the default is Send All Scores. You’d have the make the choice to unclick certain scores, right? I got deferred along with many others so I can’t say it was my low subject tests but at least I was honest in my app.
@2016senior2020 @dreambig2018
Okay I’ll just preface this with the fact I’m not here to debate, so don’t worry. I’m really sorry that you were both deferred, but I’m confident you have great chances again in the regular decision cycle. I think what’s important to keep in mind is that the reason you were deferred wasn’t the fact that one person forgot to include one sitting of their tests. And in terms of forgetting to send scores - some people do actually use the “free option” after each sitting of their tests, so forgetting to do that one time wouldn’t strike me as that strange. It happened to my friend last year, as a matter of fact. So I promise, I do understand your frustration! But criticizing someone for that doesn’t accomplish anything. Implying that someone lied/cheated/was dishonest on their app when it was unintentional on their part just isn’t really necessary.
@Alzamoos You can go check the Georgetown EA Results thread for deferrals/acceptances and the scores each person had, but keep in mind college confidential itself is pretty self-selecting, and many choose not to post stats for deferrals.
IMO, scored didn’t seem to be that big a factor in the results thread- you could make up for it with some pretty good EC’s
Just want to send some encouragement to those of you who get deferred. My son was deferred when he applied and was pretty upset about it - he was sure he wouldn’t get in. He’s happily spending his junior year on the Hilltop, with nary a thought about the initial deferral. Another example of someone who didn’t get in the first round - in fact he didn’t get off the waitlist until July before his freshman year: Bill Clinton. Don’t be discouraged.
@PSBSmom Thanks for the encouragement. I know it was a couple of years now, but do you remember roughly what his vital scores were that got him deferred then accepted, or was he in GU’s top 25%, mid 50%, lower 25%?? Just looking for a life line here.
