Hey guys, question- I’m planning on going to Georgetown’s GAAP weekend in two weeks and I don’t know if I want to bring my parents with me. I feel like I’m going to be off on my own to college soon and this would be a good thing for me to do by myself for experience with traveling alone and also I kind of want to be at this by myself, as I’ll have more freedom. However, I’m conflicted because I don’t want them to feel like I’m leaving them behind, even though they insist they don’t care either way, and also I don’t know if we’re supposed to bring them or not. The invitation says “students and parents are invited”, but it says nothing about definitely bringing or not bringing parents. What do kids typically do?
Your parents are likely paying for your education. In my opinion, they deserve to know what they’re paying for. Besides, there are parts of the GAAP weekend that are students-only, so you’ll have plenty of time on your own.
