georgetown personal essay?

the georgetown application asks you to write a personal statement essay -- what exactly are they looking for? an expository piece about you as a student and your character as an individual, or a narrative piece which highlights the type of person you are in the form of an anecdote?

actually if someone who's been admitted could give me an example essay (i won't copy it -- i mean i'm not YOU) as an indication of how one is supposed to go about this process, it'd help.

This is a question I had as well…
Anyone? Help us out please :]

It’s supposed to be the same as your personal statement for the common app
Everyone I know who applied/goes there used that essay, so don’t worry about a seperate one

I wrote about visiting Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany and how it affected me. It can be anything about your life that you think describes you and an experience you valued, perhaps. Like your general personal statement.

Yeah, I agree with those above. I wrote mine for Georgetown and then used it for all of my Common App schools too. As far as topic, just make it meaningful- mine was about failing a test and recovering from it.

I didn’t use my common app essay, but I used an essay that I used for a Penn supplement [page 217 of my autobiography] which read like a narrative

i’d recommend trying to do something unique.

last year i used my uc essay for this… wrote about my interest in “greatest ever” lists like the 100 best novels, or 1001 movies to see before you die.

Yea try to find something Unique. I pretended like mine was a few excerpts from a blog about my life that revolved around words of wisdom. I had like 6 different stories, some random, others about things I did and at the end of each I would have a “word to the wise”
…It was probably the coolest thing I wrote for college. I had a story from all areas of my life. (obviously some made up haha)

Can someone tell me what the direct essay is for applying to Georgetown College. For some reason I can not find it on their website.
Thanks

Never mind, I saw another thread that gave me the PDF

Trying to remember…son was accepted EA to G’town last year. His personal statement was written for G’town, although he might have used it later on for another application…can’t really remember. He wrote about how he was a study in contrasts. It described him very well.

Can you see the entire application, or do you only see 1 page at a time as you fill it out online. Is there one that can be downloaded first?
