Georgetown Personal Essay

So, I wrote what I thought was a great personal essay for georgetown admission. After reading it at least 20 times, over-analyzing it to the max, and stressing myself out about how vital this essay seems to be, I decided I need to write another one. Everyone has attempted to convince me to just tweak it, but I'm just plain unhappy with it.

I'm just not sure what to write about...I could construct another generic essay about myself but I feel like they're going to be staring at thousands of identical essays. Would it be okay to submit my common app personal essay? I went with option 4: " Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence." I'm entirely happy with it but I'm just not sure it's going to work for Georgetown. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Why don’t you set aside the one you’ve written for a few weeks? Work on other essays and summer reading, go out with friends–in a few weeks, you’ll be able to approach it as if someone else has written it (ie without this probably unwarrented resentment) and recognize whether it needs treatment or overhaul.

Sounds like a good idea, I’ll have to put it aside for a while and see how it sounds :)
