I know that there are loads of factors in the admissions process, gpa, ec's, community service, etc., but I wanted to know what people on this forum thought the minimum SAT score an applicant could have for a reasonable chance at getting admitted to Georgetown. I'm not talking about the crazy situations where a kid miraculously gets in with an 1800 or something, just what people feel is the cutoff point before a kid's chances get very slim.

obviously it's situational, and there's no cutoffs, and a whole vairety of other disclaimers.

However, looking over the CC stats profiles results, it looks like things get odd once you drop below about 1400 (CR+M, georgetown doesn't look at writing), but of course, a whole host of other factors come into play

I got a 1360 and got in, so don't make too many generalizations.
Again, Georgetown doesn't consider the Writing portion, so your score is considered only for the Cr and Math. Given that it's ranked #16 of the top universities in the country, as DCforMe writes, scores close to 700 on both CR and M are what I would consider a "minimum."

And I got rejected with a 1480. Completely subjective. Best bet: score as high as you can.

I got in with a 1310 (2000 with writing included). My subject test scores were all over the place. 770 on US History but a 600 on Math IIC and a 570 on Spanish. I didn't think I had a chance of getting in because of my scores but after getting deffered early action, I got in regular decision.

I got in with a 1450, no hooks. Gtown accepted 15-20 people from my class of 300 this year.

Wow, well the tulsadem and georgetownwannabe definitely give me hope. I have a 1380, and I'm expecting my USH scores to be high but my chemistry to be relatively low. Luckily I don't have to submit them for early admission!

they dnt look at the writing section??...darn...im W700 M560 CR530.........no way..im done for

Those stats profiles aren't the real population that applies to Georgetown. That is the CC population which as we all know is probably mostly the upper half of the people applying. It says on CB that they both range from 650-750 or something i think

but am I done for?.....CR 530 W700 M560..........................darn!

so by not considering W score, they don't even LOOK at it? or give you some credit for scoring well?
boo. my strengths are M & W. def NOT CR.

lobzz- you aren't 'done for'. you still have more chances of improving your scores!

They see it, but it is no way factored into your application. I was really concerned about it so I took the ACT which for some reason worked out better.

I got in with a 2290 (800CR, 800W, 690M), regular decision, no hook.

chances? Overall 1400 (M710, CR690) soccer team, tennis, volleyball, drama, french, band grades 9 & 10, national honor society (vice president), two summer jobs, three leadership positions, Model United Nations (president) 3.87 GPA (unweighted 4.0 scale) total of 10 aps throughout highschool (three 5s, one 4 and one 2) paraguayan from a third world country in the middle of nowhere…

Do you guys think a 630 on the math will hurt me alot? My CR is a 780 so it comes out to 1410.

I transferred in this year, but my SAT CR+M was 1150.

I’d say less than a combined 1100 you’d have to EXCEL in one or more subject (like, genius excel). For a regular, well-rounded person, I’d post it at around 1300 before it gets slim. But of course, the chances of acceptance are always iffy, even for 1600s.
