Anyone have experience with transferring to Georgetown? Do you have any tips for courses to take, essays, or the process in general?

Hey,

I transferred to Georgetown this Fall into the business school. Feel free to email me with any questions.

Hi Nick,
I will apply for transfer into MSB as an junior.
Can you provide your details?
I am thinking about retake SAT in January but not sure should I do that or not.
My sat was 470/800/550 =1820, which was pretty bad.

I’m originally from the midwest and didn’t take the SAT. My ACT was 32-33 I believe. In terms of GPA, I had a cumulative 3.58 for my 2 years in college. After talking to a lot of other transfers, most people seem to have 3.8-4.0’s. I was unique in terms of the school I was transferring from which probably gave me an edge and made up for the low GPA.

From what I understand your last 2 years in college are a lot more significant than SAT scores at this point.

@Nick,

Can I ask what school you transferred from? And if you could chance me?

Either applying to the college or MSB:
High School GPA: 3.63 Unweighted
College GPA: 4.0 (after one quarter at UC Davis)

High School Extracurriculars:
- Varsity Swim Captain
- Co-president of two philanthropic clubs
- Participated in the dance program for 2 years
- Head of a tutoring program for underprivileged middle school students
- and some other ones too…

College extracurriculars:
- Writer for the UCD Newspaper
- Member of the UCD Economics and Business Student Association
- 1 philanthropic club

I also attended Georgetown’s summer business program in 2012
I applied 2012 Fall for first-year admissions and was rejected

Thanks!
