Georgetown Transfer Interview

I just got an e-mail for an interview, scheduled before the 15th. It says "it's not required and will not make an impact on my decision?" Then, I'm guessing is it really an interview or a chance to meet an alumnus and ask him(it is a him) about g-town?

Weird. When I applied to Georgetown, they had a 1-10 scale that the alumn gave you.

it's cuz i'm a transfer app i believe. btw, any other transfer apps go through the interview process?

If anything, an interview should increase your chances, as you have a one-on-one faceoff with adcom, where you can expose everything you would want to that you could not on your application.

I haven't been contacted by an interviewer and as it doesn't count for anything, I'm not worried about it. Out of curiosity though, when did you submit your application?

They're called "Alumni Interviews" and they're optional. However, how can it hurt to have an alumni, who volunteers to interview applicants in his/her free time, send a recommendation for you? Basically, it's a Q&A and they ask you why you want to go to Georgetown, etc,. After the interview they send a letter to the school about the applicant.

I just did it last week. It was great. I would highly recommend it. He gave me some great advise and he took a lot of notes.

I'd do it.

how long after you sent in your application did georgetown contact you w/GUID and/or alumni interview. I still haven't received either, but all of my information was sent before the deadline.

i submitted part i at the end of jan 30th (i got my GUID like a few days after the part ii deadline). i submitted part ii the day before it was due (mar 29th). both the confirmation for part i and the interview notification came through e-mail. i just got the interview e-mail the past weekend.

hope that helps. :)

am i supposed to be expecting something from georgetown?...i didn't receive a GUID or anything.

I just received mine about two weeks ago. I'd give them a call if you don't get something soon (Wednesday). I sent in Part one early (Dec).

I called the interviewer on Monday and he's secretary said he was sick. She took down my number and name, but I haven't received a call back yet. :(

I received an interview request in the mail. I will be interviewing next week with a current faculty who is a Georgetown alumni. Interesting since I did not get an interview last year applying as a freshman.

i contacted the interviewer twice and today is the 12th, but so far he hasn't called me back. the first time his secretary said he was sick and the second time, no one picked up and i left a message.

Hmm, I dont think I got a GUID either... a tad worriesome.
Would it be a good idea to call this week then?

I just received the mail from Georgetown yesterday, contacted my interviewer today and will be interviewing next week. The interview is certainly optional and it will not hurt you if you don't do it. However, considering the interviewer sends a note/report to georgetown, if you think you would interview well, then it's definitely worth it.

ah didn't know about the 1-10 scale too (maybe that's why i got waitlisted..shaky interview). it's not that bad of an interview though...just be yourself and good luck with everything

I liked the interview. Plus, I'm pretty sure that it can help you, it's just that they say it won't hurt you if you decide not to do it.

I just did my interview last week. It went fairly well and the questions were very generic and most of mine came straight off the instruction booklet for interviewers. Otherwise, it was very casual and informal.

where is nspeds when you need him?

can i request an interview? i so want one, i love interviews and i really, really love georgetown and wouldn't have any trouble talking about why i want to go there.... meh, but i live in burlington, vt, which isn't really a mecca for georgetown alum, i gather.
