I received an email today from the Georgetown Admissions Office inviting me to interview with an alumnus from my area. Since interviews are not required for transfer students, does this mean that after an initial browse at my application, the office deems my application to be 'competitive'?

Anybody who has interviewed with an alumnus/ae from Georgetown, how formal is it and should I be expecting a casual conversation or an 'intense', note-taking interview?

I got one too and I am excited, but I am not too sure it means anything special except that we are in an area with a large amount of alumni interviewers…I could be wrong though

serious? I havent received a damn thing. I was wondering about this crap. I wonder if they have everything…etc. I live in a city of 18 mil, i would think there would be SOMEONE here from gtown… even my mom is here and she is an alum… i heard nothing!!! i called too a million times and got the we are still entering things in. They dont even ask for my name or anything. geesus lucky!!

hey this is just me being paranoid, but what does your last name start with? I was thinking maybe they were just going alphabetically.

same here, JGee. I’m a bit worried that only the competitive applicants are getting heads up for interviews. By the way, my last name begins with L.

My last name starts with a G, so maaaybe they are going from the beginning? I didnt know there were official nominations.
Have you experienced from calling the office that they are always saying we havent enetered everything in yet or the we are still entering things in or the we are still reading freshman apps so we havent started with transfer apps.
I can be so frustrated. I have a huge feeling that I am going to be rejected from ALL my schools and I really want Georgetown to come through because I do NOT want to stay in California.

NO, it really has not much to do with the competitiveness of an applicant. My friend and i both applied for transfer last year - i got in, he didn’t. I had a 4.0 and my friend was around a 3.29 and we are both Econ majors. Not to shoot down anything but it didn’t really play into anything in the decision process, at least i dont think so.

I live in CT, but go to school in TN. I am email from the Georgetown Office on Friday about an interview with an alumnus near Nashville. Most likely, emails were sent to those students who submitted applications early. For me, my application has been complete since early February

geesus, maybe no one wants to donate their time to me in LA. gees. la is like 100 miles wide with 18 million, i thought someone would want to volunteer. PS i turned my app in around 2-3 weeks after the app became available. Maybe early Feb?
The office said all they need is part 1 to get the interview searching process started and would assign as soon as they confirmed they got part II.

odd odd. seems to be arbitrary. oh well no worries said with anxiety

I got an e-mail this morning, last name begins with a J, and I’m in the Pittsburgh area. I applied and was rejected last year, and had an interview that went very well (for freshman application). Getting an interview doesn’t mean anything except that there is an established alumni network around your city, and for transfers, that the alumni aren’t spent from the freshmen interviews ;P

*edit: and I completed my app 2-5 days before the March 1st deadline (sent the last part in pretty much the day before it was due)

i go to school in the pittsburgh area and i haven’t gotten any word…do you think they would be setting you up with alumnae in your hometown, or near your school?

I assume that alumni interviews will be conducted close to your school. I am from CT, but go to TN and will have an interview with an alumnae in TN
