Georgetown Transfer Questions

Georgetown is my top choice as of right now, I'm still waiting to hear from JHU. :)

Don't go to Hpkins not nearly as much fun as Georgetown

Hey guys, SERIOUSly...I probably have one of the most competitive application....I'm from a Community College and I made the Dean's List this semester with 6 classes, 18 CREDIT HOURS....Tons of activities, MODEL UN, Debate, and more....ESSAY TOP TOP EXCELLENT....RECOMMENDATION were I think fabulous...I still have not heard....I called and they said u should hear June 1st..."They are still reviewing apps." WHAT DO U GUYS THINK??? OH, and I had a great interview....Gosh, and GTOWN IS MY #1...I duuno whats going on! GPA Is 3.3~3.4...BUT very competitive classes.

you need to calm down. I'm sorry to say that with a GPA of 3.4 at a cc it is unlikely that you have one of the most competitive apps. And model un and debate are good EC's but not by any means unique. I'm sure you have a decent shot, if you're still really anxious you can try e-mailing an adcom.

I know where ur coming from addy, but I cant write everything about my life on CC in order for me to prove to u that I'm unique...My essay is really great...I have a ton more ec's and I traveled many places....I took very competitve classes in HS. including AP's...I'm just saying that I have a really strong application and was asking for u guys opinion on it....on wheather u think they will let me know soon with a rejection or an accept...Since all of u heard all ready...

I know, tough choice jim, we will see... That's why I am taking a visit to both next week, I can't make up my mind, hehe.

Sorry that I can't list my whole profile on CC, there is just too much...Thanks for ur input...I guess I will just be patient and wait for my decision to come in the mail. Sorry for the confusion, I sould have never even asked!

You don't have to prove anything. I was just going off that one sentence. Good luck!

And what is JHU campus like? And how big of a school is it? I've never really considered it for undergrad but I hear it's a tough school with a lot of grade deflation.

It's a beautiful campus, very inspiring, fairly large, not as compact as Georgetown, pretty different vibe... Typically, you'll find mixed reviews about the surrounding area of the campus (the greater Baltimore area), I for one, really enjoyed visiting the Inner Harbor, it's a neat, unique touristy area with plenty of things to do and see.

I believe tough is an understatement lol, but then again, if you are planning to attend graduate or preprofessional schools after graduation, most institutions will take into consideration the challenging nature of Hopkins coursework when reviewing your overall GPA.

Okay, enough rambling about Hopkins in the Georgetown thread lol. :)

Tanya..did you hear anything from JHU?..I am still waiting for the decision..:(

Not necessarily, ;), they should be out by this week according to several different sources of intelligence lol. :)

I was accepted to the College on Saturday. The letter was dated May 24th. I am from MD.

Hey Aquamarine-- I am confused-- where have you been accepted and where have you decided to go? I have seen your posts on numerous threads so I am just curious.

Braird..I got admitted to Emory, UVA and some schools so far
and got rejected from Gtown..
I am still waiting to hear from JHU, but there's no hope for me..:(
I am planning to go to Emory or Uva and then reapply GTown and NYU next year..(b/c I really wanna go to GTown or NYU..)

What about you..braird?..which school are you planning to go to?..:)

Aquamarine, did u actually receive an official rejection letter from Gtown??? Also, just curious, who here has been REJECTED FROM GEORGETOWN??? Because I think there is only two or three people who said they got rejected...so I would like to know....I still have not received my decision letter.

YTA4, I received an email from the admission officer...

"Thank you for your message.
Your decision letter will be mailed next week and unfortunately you will be denied admission. This is the final decision on your application.
Thank you for your interest in Georgetown.
Best Wishes,
xxxx"

That's why I am planning to reapply to GTown next year..:(

Oh my gosh, I totally know who wrote that email....Is the initials ML????? Did u ask them WHY they rejected u? YOU CAN DO THAT and they will tell you, trust me. TRY IT AND LET US KNOW!

YTA4..her initial is not ML...
and I already asked her why I got rejected..and her answer was so simple..

"Thank you for your message.
There was nothing at all wrong with your application--the level of competition is just so high here at Georgetown that we do not have enough spaces for all of the talented students who apply.
Best Wishes,
xxxx"

If I am gonna reapply next year as a junior transfer, are HS GPA and SAT score still important??

and I don't have SAT2 score now, do I have to take sat 2 also??

give me some advice..:)..guys..

Seems like there are a lot of people still waiting to hear.
I was just curious, two weeks ago i recieved an email from the admissions officer saying that they cant locate my college transcript and wanted me to fax them the unofficial one and then mail the official one. I did fax and send them the transcripts.
I was just curious, since there are people who have already recieved the admission letters, could it be that the ones who havent heard have been WAITLISTED or sth??
Do they actually answer absolutely everyone by June 1st?? Also, do they somehow notify the ones who have been waitlisted?
Thank you all.

Turkmen, I don't know, but I'm still waiting to hear from them too....It really sucks...Did u contact them and check ur status? I did and they told me that they are still reviewing applications...They told me I would know by June 1st. What college are u applying to? I'm applying to the MSB. What are ur stats like?
