I had an interview, it was 12 minutes long, it ended with my interviewer saying "I like you, I see you at Georgetown, and I am going to give you my highest reccomendation"
I was accepted.

I had an interview as well, it lasted about an hour and a half, I didn't let him speak lol. I was his first transfer applicant, I think he was impressed, hence my acceptance!

it's impossible to tell the effect of interviews. most interviewers are impressed b/c during their time applicants were a lot less competitive and had fewer EC's.

True but shh, don't rain on my parade lol. ;)

my interviewer had only graduated 2 years before I met him

that still means he applied over six years ago.
and Tanya- I'm sure you would have impressed any interviewer, even a cynical young un' such as myself :)

Well i did not have an interview, I guess that means I am definitely NOT ACCEPTED...Right? :-(

You also got accepted to NYU right? as a sophomore?

WHere did you go to school for your freshman year? Also, what are your stats like?

I am thinking of applying there too and was just wondering about my chances .

Thank you

hello everyone, i'm tom

awesome thread--it deffinetly feels good to know that i am not the only transfer applicant making phone calls and anxiously waiting for my letter to arrive.

my stats are pretty unique (wierd and difficult to interpret) so maybe i'll post them later

currently i'm at a university in the u/k called 'the university of exeter' which is a top 10 school--but i'm not really sure if that means anything to georgetown admissions. i lived in Poland but attended american middle/high schools in connecticut so my high school transript is american. i do a bsc (bachlor of science) in economics and psychology with honors...yah

any applicants in Europe recieve there letters yet? oh and i did an interview in london with some j.p morgan director who kinda freaked me out because he kept on writing down quotes of what i was saying--10 years from now i can't imagine doing an interview for a georgetown applicant and writing something bad about them, it seems kinda mean. i know a lot about applying to english schools if anyone is interested...

Yes I was accepted to NYU as a sophomore with the condition that I study abroad first semester. I am currently attending the University of Oregon.
Look at some of my other posts I posted my stats several times.

hey all-

i also had an interview with a GU alum. i also was his first transfer candidate. it lasted about 45 minutes and at the end he said that he thought i was a good fit and would write an excellent recommendation.

i was accepted as a sophomore (even though i already have 50 credits) into the college.

stats are on page 32.

Hey, I'm just curious...so is there STILL people receiving acceptance letters??? Did anyone get their acceptance letter recently???

I'm waiting for my decision letter as well, but I'm afraid they're really sending out predominantly rejection letters :(( Anyway, that's kinda unfair for us to wait for soooooooo long and eventually, when you're near your mailbox like an anxious idiot, you open it and read that "We are sorry to...." etc.

Waiting until the last minute to send out rejection letters seems to be the trend. Even first year acceptance letters were mailed first and then rejection letters sent later by many schools this year.

Be optimistic hazarrrd!

I'm sure they are still sending out more acceptance letters to applicants. Even though, there won't be very many, perhaps you were one of the lucky few?! Wait it out!

thank you for support, applynow, it's just really freaking me out!!Anyway, thank you, your post helped me to calm down a little bit.

Got my letter today. I live in the DC area so mine got here quick.
No deal. They had 1,600 for 200 openings. My stats were decent and I was applying as a junior. My original plan was to go to law school there-- so I will be back! Good luck to all.

that's so rediculous, why are they sending the rejection letters so late?Couldn't they do that earlier?I mean seriously, people are waiting, hoping etc..I could've applied to that university in France if I got my rejection letter earlier and I'm still waiting!

tried to find your stats but all i could find is your 3.3 upward trend in high school.

there is one application for every university in the united kingdom. its basically the common app except there are no supplements (pretty awesome right?). They only look at your essay if your a "boderline" case and you don't have to mail/verify any of your sat/ap marks until you pick the school you want to go to. (once again, pretty awesome right?)

chances are that the university that you apply to will not be interested in your gpa or high school transcript. (i got admitted to my top choice, half the rest of the schools i applied to requested my transcript--and i never sent it. in the end i got into all of them) you should apply as a "visiting student" (if possible) and your decesion will be based on SAT's, SAT II's and AP's. AP's being the most important because they can easily be compared to the UK standard--'a-levels'.

I had a 3 ap stats, 3 ap envi sci, 5 ap calc ab, 700 math sat, 720 math sat II, 580 sat physics--and nothing else mattered because english is my second laungage. I applied to the maximum that your allowed to apply for, 6 courses--you apply for the course not to the actual university**hard to get into oxford? not at all if your studying hebrew. not really my bag though--i applied for econ, and uh...yah i can just keep talking but basically its a hell of an experience--for a year. the english simply choose not to challenge themselves and my university has 4 on campus bars and 1 fully functional club (just on campus)--i've been on vacation for a year and its deffinetly time to move on to better things...even though i'm getting a bsc honours (in the top 10 of my class) from a top 100 school in the world. give me some more info jim, sat's, ap's, what kind of weather you like, urban....

So I finally got my rejection letter in the mail today - the end of a long saga! Oh well, I've decided to go to GWU and I think I'm going to be happy there. It's right in the city, the facilities are nice, all the people I've met there are friendly and besides the awesome financial aid package allowing me practically a full ride the campus HAS A METRO STOP. Yay!

Overall I'm kinda mad at GU. Not for not accepting me - I can understand competition was tough and I probably didn't have as high of a GPA as everyone else who applied BUT for placing so heavy of an emphasis on high school grades. I mean, come on - a transfer applicant seven years out of high school with 60 college credits and you really care about their high school record? That's a little silly. Keep in mind though that I'm biased :)

Congratulations to everyone who got in! I'm happy for you all and good luck. Have a great time there and try the Don Quixote coffee at the shop in the library - it's awesome.
