Georgetown Transfer Thread

What are your stats/hooks?

Yeah, here come the questions!

Congrats on getting into SFS Elec! I’m also hoping to get into SFS, and hope to hear back soon.

Got accepted to SFS as a sophomore transfer! I won’t know how I feel about this until I see the financial aid award though… Anyone know when those come out?

So did you get a letter or email acceptance?

I got an e-mail earlier this evening. I had no idea it was a decision because I applied to Georgetown as a freshman, and they did EVERYTHING by mail. The subject was “Transfer Decision Letter” or something like that, so I just assumed it was an e-mail telling me that letters had been sent out.

Well that’s great to hear! So what aspect do you think think helped your application out most?

And yeah, hope that financial aid will help out a bunch, hopefully no loans!

Honestly, I think it had to do with how close I came last year. I was deferred after applying EA, waitlisted in April, and then put on the extended waitlist. They ended up not taking anyone off the extended waitlist, but they did send me (and conceivably everyone else on the list) a letter basically saying we would get some extra consideration if we were to apply as transfers and continued to get good grades. I also think I wrote a pretty clear and concise “Why do you want to transfer to Georgetown?” essay.

Hey guys I have been following the thread for a while but was to nervous to even talk about Georgetown let alone post about. I called the admin office today because deposits are due for other schools, so I wanted to get an early decision. Long story short I got accepted to MSB, they said letters will be sent out for MSB next week. I have to reiterate this is specifically for MSB, I have no idea when other schools are sending out decisions.

I’m nervous about calling for an early read because for some reason I feel like it would hurt me if they looked at it too quick or something…other than that this is killing me right now hearing that MSB acceptances are going out next week?? Last yr when MSB acceptances were going out, the colleges were mostly done reviewing apps by that time =O. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN??!

If you do call, you need to provide them with proof that a deposit is due. Or essentially you need to prove that you need your decision sooner rather than later.

Thanks. I’m just curious though if this is the same route as last yr’s thread, they usually sent out College decisions first, then MSB, then SFS. If MSB is going out next week…does that mean that if we don’t hear this week from the College it isn’t a good thing?

I have no idea, I got rejected from SFS last year as a transfer but I only had 12 credits from a community college compounded by awful high school stats. I think every schools admin team operates inside of their own schedule though. I doubt they communicate about the order of decisions.

Really? What were your HS stats? If you want, could you PM me? I’m in a similar situation, but as of now I have over 80 credits as a transfer applicant, so I’m hoping if they were offset for you they might be for me too! Thanks!

USMTRANSFER was admissions nice to you when you told them of your deadline, or did they seem annoyed?

Congrats on the acceptances! This makes me sooo nervous…

Someone please make another chat! :)

…omg… today continues to turning out results…

The lady I talked to was annoyed, which is understandable considering this is the busiest time of their year, and she referred me to the MSB admin department. I emailed my dilemma to the address I was given and within 10 minutes I got a reply telling me to call a number. I called the number and talked to a Mr. Callahan who really built up the suspense asked me how I was doing in my classes then told me that Georgetown would be offering me admission for next year.

@emaytay I was in the exact same situation, I’m so glad it’s finally over and they’re letting me in
