I also got my acceptance letter to the School of Foreign Service via email at about 9 pm Eastern time tonight.

Because I know that people will be curious:

I’m now a sophomore and will be transferring in as a junior.

-current school/ major: GWU Elliott School of International Affairs/ International Affairs with a concentration in International Economics

-Georgetown school/ major: SFS/ International Political Economy
-high school GPA: 4.67 (weighted)
-high school class rank: 30/ 550
-college GPA: 3.9
-SAT: 770 (reading) 570 (math) 710 (writing)
-SAT II: 800 (German) 740 (Literature) 780 (US History)
-college extra-curriculars: very involved with GW’s Alternative Spring Breaks program (participated on and lead spring break trips)

I applied last year as a sophomore transfer and was weight-listed, but didn’t accept the spot. I took a course this year at Georgetown through the DC Consortium and got a recommendation from a Georgetown professor. I think along with having a really clear idea of why Georgetown was a better fit for me than GW (Georgetown offers a major that GW doesn’t, sense of community, academic rigor, etc.) which came across really well in my essays, having a good recommendation from a Georgetown professor really helped. If anyone from a DC school is planning on applying in the future, I definitely recommend taking a class at Georgetown.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear.

So I actually need to know my results by tomorrow. My deadline for setting up travel arrangements for an overseas language program is tomorrow, and my decision will determine where I land when I return to the US. Should I call them and ask, or do I need to email them first?

Either way, can you provide me with a phone number and/or email?

Maybe we should start one of these things to keep track: I stuck a few in that I remembered which wasn’t very many (sorry) but just add your info/repost.

YO SAMEEE. Anyways, I’m going to go have a glass of wine & try to catch some z’s. It’s necessary lol.

Sidenote: one thing I’ve been wondering is whether GT adcom really does separate apps by major once they are dispersed to each college. Any thoughts/confirmation on this?

hopefully we get some golden emails tomorrow. night everyone!
