alright I still haven’t received a decision, but financial aid packet was emailed to me on friday afternoon and mailed to my house today. I’m calling admissions…

@esthetique Thanks for increasing my hope again, haha, I’d be a sophomore transfer student.

esthetique, haha hopefully not because I’m a Junior Transfer and I haven’t heard back…my hopes keep going up and down…some kind of news (even bad) would be nice :D

@esthetique haha! no I haven’t told people I’m officially a GTown student quiteeee yet, just want to visit, get the real letter in the mail, and put my deposit in. Then it’s party time! Have you heard anything yet??

i’m in!! apparently they admitted me days ago (friday probably, when I received financial aid) and the email AND letter never reached me, but somehow the financial aid packet did! this would happen as i was dying of anxiety

i got in to the college for biology, i was waitlisted last year
good luck to everyone!

Congrats, hope you enjoy it

@dancer190… if you don’t mind me asking, how was your financial aid? was it sufficient? I still haven’t gotten mind :(

Also I got my transfer credit evaluation. We still have the SAME requirements as entering freshman and a lot of credits don’t transfer because gtown is strict about their students taking courses there only.

And if you’re premed (like me) you have to take all of your pre med reqs there or the committee won’t recommend you for med school… sooo annoying

@sophalof My financial aid wasn’t that great at all, a parent lost a job this year (which was almost all of our income) and they didn’t take it into account since they go on last year’s income… hopefully they reassess

also thats rediculous about the pre-med requirements…are you saying they will make us retake a whole year of general chemistry? i’ve also taken calc 2 this year

@alyssa: no i haven’t heard back yet i can continue to hope until the 18th cuz that’s about when last year’s ppl started getting rejections, or until someone here posts about a reject first, which’ll probably be me haha. like Borges said, at this point i just want any news :/

@Borges and Jdoh: oh you two lol xP

It is absolutely not the case that transfer students who are premed have to take all of the premedical requirements at Georgetown in order to receive a committee recommendation. I am living proof!

@sophalof Really? That’s interesting because when I toured there they said they’re typically really lenient with accepting credits from other schools…

If anybody else hears back/has heard from financial aid, could you please post here what day you received your acceptance, and what day you received your aid package? I’m going to need a pretty generous package to be able to attend, so I’m stressing that almost as much as I did the admission!

@esthetique. I actually applied as a sophomore… I’m currently finishing up my third semester of college. I graduated from high school in 2010, entered college in fall of 2010, started second semester during spring 2011, but withdrew for medical reasons. I started school again in fall 2011. When I applied to Georgetown, I applied as a sophomore but had two semesters under my belt.

I was under an opposite impression…lol. I hope this isn’t true. Because Georgetown was one of my top-choice schools, I was careful to take classes that were transferable–that is, classes such as philosophy, theology, etc. that form the basis of Georgetown’s core.

Was the credit evaluation an email or a letter?

My credit evaluation was through e-mail. The transfer credit does not seem that strict to me.

Does anyone else have to take a placement test for their major? Since I’m a Russian major/Linguistics Minor I have to take a language placement test that basically determines whether I’ll be a sophomore or junior next year. I’m more nervous for this than I was for admissions! (Dying a little inside!)

I got the credit evaluation through an email, what was your major? maybe your recs are lenient because your major is not as demanding. My major is very demanding and I’m also doing premed.

@madmen are you sure? because I spoke to the pre med advisor and he assured me that gtown’s premed committee does not recommend students who have not taken most of their courses at gtown. Actually, I can’t take physics this summer because if I do I won’t get a recommendation.

(a med school recommendation is only given to students who apply for one through the gtown premed committee, but the premed advisor also told me that if you don’t get a recommendation you have to explain why when you apply to med school)

Has anyone heard anything this week? Or is Friday our only (and last) hope?
