Georgetown Transfer Thread

Here is my stats:

From Rutgers, NJ
GPA: 3.75/4.00

Multi-language speaker, speaking English, Chinese, Japanese, limited Spanish and Dutch. Finished my high school in Australia and Nederland.

Extracurriculars: founder of high school’s website; working as marketing manager for a leading European company in fashion industry for three years; investment consultation for one year.

PS:
I just sent an email to the lady who has been taking care of my application for a while, to confirm whether I was actually rejected (I really don’t want wait for another 7-10 days for the snail mail); besides, I wanted to know what I can do to improve myself, because I surely will apply for transfer again next year.

clarification: i meant rejections/waitlists are sent out by mail and acceptances by both. that’s why i said that they should just send out the rejections/waitlists by email instead because it’s more convenient >.>

Do you think they’ll have a large waitlist?

I was wondering if there would be a lot of correlation between ‘acceptance Emails’ and ‘Rejection letters’. Do they really send acceptance letters through Email first? I mean, if the admissions did not contact me until now and they have began to send out results, does it supposed to mean that I am either rejected/waitlisted?

If you haven’t heard of anything, there is still chance you may get waitlisted, rejected or even accepted.

I suggest not to try to call them and intentionally collect the clues from their response, because I did that; admissions won’t say anything, it is not helpful and there is nothing useful coming out of it. No matter what I ask, their response is identical: “you will know your decision by deadline - June 1” (I personally take that as a polite rejection)

Also, I did research on the information regarding transfer decision over the past a few years, even though most acceptances were given through email first then a snail mail since the college started using web-based application system, there are still some ppl receiving the acceptance only by mail occasionally. Hence, there are still hopes.

Guys, just one week left. Good luck!

Agreed with maxwine. But the amount of ppl getting accepted late/at this point is small. Most of the acceptances were out early May. I don’t think the waitlist will be that big, and I don’t think there’ll be a lot of ppl who will get off the waitlist because gtown does offer really nice transfer student financial aid in comparison with other schools. So matriculation might be fairly high. :/

I e-mailed the admissions officer in charge of my app (with updates on summer plans, and my grades), but I did not receive a response. Any advice?

@84, please tell us what your officer says while you hear from him/her. Although I assume he would say exactly the same as what my officer said “you will know your decision by our deadline”, I still wanna know whether this is just a uniformed response for everyone (which may give me a little bit hope), or it actually means game over just for me…

I feel dumb asking this…but how do you find out who your officer is??

Thank you!!

It seems unfair to release acceptances by email first and rejections/waitlists by snail mail. Why not release all decisions on one day at the same time?

Ayt,
I just called the undergraduate admissions office and they said that all transfer decision letters were mailed yesterday, Eastern Time.
I am an internationally student and I just arrived home. I did not put my home address on the form and they mailed it to college where I am currently enrolled. I explained them my situation that there is no way I can check the mail but as I was told I have to wait till 1st of June and after that contact the counselor.
I guess all we have to do now is wait

Good luck to all you guys,
fingers crossed for you and for me :)

Keep us posted about your decision ;)

Accepted transfers, have any of you gotten your NETID yet? Last night I got an email about my financial aid and it was addressed to two emails, my gmail and a Georgetown email that looks like it’s mine, but they still haven’t given me my NETID or any instructions on how to access it  I still haven’t gotten the transfer credit evaluation for that matter.

Oh it’s worth mentioning that I got accepted way back on April 27.

I got my letter in the mail today…and rejected. I’m not really too upset even though it was my number 1 I feel like it is their loss when I got accepted to BC and most ranking have BC before Georgetown.

Just got my letter with official rejection. I need a few days to calm down first, then I will open up a thread for Georgetown transfer for 2013 if nobody else gonna do it. Wish you all good luck and I am sure all you guys are excellent enough to shine, no matter where you are. :)

yup, got the letter today too. oh wells. looks like most of the waitlisted got in this year. congrats to everyone else!

@gormansys: Sorry, I meant to say I haven’t gotten the password I need to login. I looked through the FAQ and it looks like I have to email them with my photo ID? It said it would take 2-4 weeks after getting my acceptance letter, but I got accepted on April 27 so it’s been four weeks already.

S1 Rejected by Georgetown today. Accepted to Cornell, NYU (Stern) and BC.
Will be attending Cornell (Dyson) as Sophomore Transfer. Good luck to all
