Georgetown waitlist class of 2024

Based on some people being given several days/until May 13 to decide after being contacted by AOs, does it appear that they’ll post acceptances to some people’s portals on May 15? Or does it seem more likely that those who receive the emails/phone calls before May 15 will be the only ones offered admission off the waitlist? May 15 is so close – it’s odd that they still have a “few dozen” spaces but haven’t necessarily moved waves of people off the waitlist

To all the people who received phone calls / emails confirming you or your child would go to Georgetown if admitted, did you or your child send in a letter of extended interest and updated resume with their waitlist verification? I’ve heard that students who send in letters of extended interest are not notified until May 15th because there is no need to confirm interest?

I thought at least one person if not more that got in off of the waitlist did send in LOCI’s. I assumed that they wanted to confirm it before they made the official offer.

I think that most, if not all, people who were called and admitted did submit LOCIs. However, did the LOCIs specify that they absolutely would attend GU as their first choice if admitted? The calls could’ve been to confirm total interest.

In reading posts from prior GU Waitlist years, it seems that it is GU’s standard protocol to call and/or email before extending acceptance to a student. So, my guess is that if we don’t receive an email or call it means we’re out of luck.

I agree @Camlian with that theory. I guess we will know for sure in a few days.

Irrespective of the decision, we should all post the results for the benefit of the future parents and students who read this thread.

From my understanding, they relied primarily on letters before this year. And I saw on previous College Confidential and Reddit pages that many students did not hear back until May 15th. In addition, there was a statement made by Georgetown several years ago stating that when you are noticed is not necessarily vindication of your place on the waitlist.

I got an email from an AO this morning! I live in Georgia.

Congrats!!! My D declined offer from Georgetown last night. It was very very difficult decision to make. Waitlist is still in action guys!! Keep your hope up!!!

Did your D get a better offer at another school? Thank you for your encouragement!

She got an offer from Brown. Georgetown is GREAT school! Location is her dream place to live!! It was hard to turn down… everything is still moving around. My D is still waiting from other school also. Too early to give up !! Think positive!!

Brown is an incredible school!!! Congrats to your D!

I am wondering this same thing? Have you heard if this is possible. Georgetown is my dream school and unfortunately I never received a call or email.

Congrats to those admitted via email/call! For those people, did your LOCI indicate that GU was your top choice and you would go if admitted, or did it not specify that?
(Trying to gauge whether they’ll still be offering admission via portal on May 15 to any people who already specified in their LOCI that GU is their top choice, so they didn’t require the confirmation of a phone call).

Does anyone know how many students Georgetown put on the waitlist this year?

I do not think they released those numbers yet (I at least haven’t seen anything). But apparently from one of the Admissions Officers they waitlist around 2,000 applicants.

you can read a little bit about the process here: https://blog.getintocollege.com/waitlisted-what-to-do-if-youve-been-offered-a-spot-on-a-waitlist/
*keep in mind this source is from 2013, so things have likely changed given this year’s unusual circumstances

Do international students also get an email/ phone call? Because I have sent a LOCI and another email on May 1st stating that it was my first choice college and haven’t received anything yet. Are there any international students on here that have received some news?

Also did anyone get in from SFS?

I am wondering the same thing! I am on the waitlist and I applied to SFS, I sent a letter of continued interest earlier this month that clearly stated I would go to Gtown if admitted so I’m wondering if that is why I did not receive a call. But I’ve looked at all these posts and I only saw one for SFS. I also read somewhere that they do SFS last. Hopefully thats the case!
