Are the decisions all released on one day or slowly over a large window of time? I know that we’re supposed to have a decision by mid-Jan, but I’m wondering if it’s possible to know before then.
All released on one date. Sorry you will have to wait.
My son submitted on 10/15 and still has not received his GTID to access Buzzport. Anyone else in the same situation?
@genuine77 We’re in the same position and D applied 9/25. She used the Coalition App. On Friday, she was finally able to request a password reset for the Application Portal, but no Buzzport information yet.
I think they’re having issues with importing stuff from the Coalition site. The portal shows 29 teacher recommendation files and 20 GC recommendation files uploaded. I’m guessing that they started importing Coaltion applications on 10/27 (or at least her application), and that prior to the 27th, the Coalition site was sending the files to some queue once they were received from the GC and teacher. Since GT wasn’t accepting applications, the Coalition site probably tried once/day to get them the file. What a mess!
At this point, the portal shows that she still needs to submit her transcript and test scores. I’m concerned about the transcript since the Coalition site shows that the GC has uploaded it. Test scores will be sent once the Oct 11 SAT results are available.

When I applied, I got an email allowing me to access the basic application portal to see my application status. You then just gotta wait a few days for your account to get set up. I didn’t recieve any emails, I just went to https://passport-prod.gatech.edu/activation/applicant and activated my account and it gave me a preassigned username (just my named follwed by a number). THEN, you can visit the financial aid application at https://webapps.gatech.edu/cfeis/gtapp/menu.cfm and just login with the gt account you just made and fill out that form. From what I can tell, the buzzport website is useless for us applicants, and is mainly for admitted students.
@clemsonfan803 thank you so much, that worked. He was able to create the passport id.
So I got an email from gtech to start the Verification Financial Aid process, does that mean anything or is that just sent to everyone who applies?
I don’t know. I also received that email
Unfortunately I just think this is a random request. The Govt requires that they audit some percentage of the aid applications. I don’t think it indicates anything specific about admissions.
Ahhhh it’s official. Decisions come out January 13 at noon ET
Another email from GA Tech:
Our office has discovered that a small portion of 2018-2019 financial aid applicants were prematurely selected for our institutional Verification review process that requests additional income and tax information from the student and family. While this review process is a valid process within our office that allows us to thoroughly evaluate for the federal and institutional financial aid we administer, a portion of the applicants selected for this review process should not have been selected. We have since identified this issue and have updated the impacted accounts to remove the requested Verification/tax documents from the students’ financial aid requirements via Buzzport.
Your account has been updated now to remove these Verification documents, however, please be aware that you still may have other unsatisfied requirements that need to be provided to our office. We encourage you to access BuzzPort to check for any other unsatisfied requirements.
Finally, while you are not currently selected for the Verification review process, any updates you make to your financial aid applications can result in you later being selected. You would then need to provide our office with the requested documentation so we can finalize your financial aid awards for the upcoming year. Should this occur, we will notify you again via email to view the unsatisfied Verification requirements via BuzzPort. Once logged into BuzzPort, you can view and upload those requirements via “My Requirements and Eligibility” in the Financial Aid section.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office.

That’s weird, I never received that email but upon recently checking my BuzzPort account the verification documents were taken off
@treepanda nothing to worry. I call GA Tech financial aid and they said they will start this process again. But I can see all the requirements 'Received and Satisfied" for me on BuzzPost site.
They’ll start the process again? So it was a mistake? This is kind of confusing
@treepanda They said it wasn’t needed at this point and emails were sent by mistake.
@Cam367 Okay that makes sense. Thanks!!
My S received an email saying his decision would be sent on Jan 13th.
My D received a similar message that decisions will be released at noon on Jan 13th. I do have a quick question regarding status updates. My D submitted her app early October, and the portal shows that all required documents/scores complete well before 11/1. However, the status of the application remains as Submitted. Does GA not show a “Complete” status on the portal?
Oops Typo. Meant to write “portal shows that all required documents/scores complete well before 10/15”
