Is there a Facebook group or anything for accepted students?

I hear the following is usually given to legacy.
I am not even legacy.
What does this mean? Am I accepted on some condition?
I guess I will have to contact them Monday.

Accepted through Georgia Tech Arts & Sciences Pathway Program for Fall 2019 as a transfer student. So will probably look forward to Fall 2019

Because not everyone takes SAT. Georgia is a big ACT state. None of my kid ever took SAT. They both got in Tech with only ACT score of 35.

Accepted : Industrial Engineering
1400 SAT 740M/660R/20Essay

The thing is you guys are so focused on grades and stats, but in the end what matters is your actual passion for your major and the clear iteration of why you want to study it. Admissions don’t want a good test taker, they want someone who will be successful in their field. Here I am with a sub-par score and got into one of Georgia Tech’s strongest programs. Definitely enrolling!

@trix Actually the state of GA is pretty even between the SAT and ACT when looking back at the data from 2017. 63K took the SAT and 57K took the ACT in 2017. At my DD school, most top scoring kids I talked to took both at least once and then focused on the format they liked the best. But the ACT is coming on and will pass the SAT on day as the ACT has been growing while the SAT has been flat when it comes to the number of students taking it. In our area of GA, more take the SAT just based on there being double the number of SAT to ACT testing sites but there are other areas of the state where the ACT is king. Data for 2017 is below.

Reposting what I posted in post# 423:
From Tech:

Bold is mine. While they note the standardized test scores they are noting the accomplishments, the changes made by, the personalities of the admitted students.

And for those offeredsophomore transfer options: They are automatic IF you take the required courses for your desired major and IF you have a GPA of 3.3 or better. Read the link carefully.

@jym626 You are right. Test scores and grades are important but Georgia Tech has to see other things. Otherwise, you may miss the next Oprah, J.K. Rowling, or Elon Musk over .1 GPA difference or 100 points on the SAT. My suggestion to all students who were deferred and Tech was your 1st choice: Don’t give up and fight for acceptance. For those who were rejected, Do great things so that Georgia Tech will regret that decision.

Tech has been emphasizing that they want not just thinkers, but doers. They want students who have made a difference and will continue to do so.

I am happy that GT really seems to go past the GPA and test scores. Looking at all the 1550 SAT scores that were denied make me grateful that this is the case. A 1550 score is an order of magnitude above my humble 1420. (1420 = 3/100, 1550 = 3/1000). I think I got in because like Szechuan beef said above, I made it apparent on my application that I will do what I need to do to succeed in engineering, namely, by taking a ton of engineering courses in dual enrollment. I got through calc 3 and physics 2, plus 3 semesters of C++, CAD, and Intro to Engineering. Oh yeah, and the 3 year game design sequence at my high school. I didn’t win any competitions or do any projects, or even participate in any, but I showed them that I worked hard towards a goal. I’ve wanted to be an engineer since 6th grade so, that helped me stay focused. My essays were very engineering specific, and a friend who is at GT tells me they also look for sports leadership (which I have), but I see lots of high SAT scoring varsity athletes in this thread who were denied, so who knows.

I was kind of surprised. Maybe it was because I applied for CS? GT specifically states that they do not admit by majors but I don’t know.
