I am applying to Georgia Tech for Fall 2012 as a chemical engineering transfer student (freshmen) from Virginia Tech and I was wondering the level of competitiveness I should expect. I heard it was high for this major but I wanted to know if I stood a chance. I did well in high school and got into Virginia (I didn't apply to GT before this) and after my first semester of engineering here at VA Tech, my GPA was 3.87, one B in Engineering Exploration. I do not know what they put emphasis on but I have also been active in the community and am part of a freshmen engineering living-learning community that involves professional, academic development along with community service.

I will have met all the transfer requirements (minimum transferable credits, required courses, and out-of-state minimum GPA) except one class that I need to complete over the summer. I have worked it out with an admissions officer to expect my final grade in that class after the document deadline, grades will be posted a week later. Also, I will take that class, Composition II at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln, where I am originally from.
By the time this spring semester in over, I can reasonably estimate my overall GPA to range from 3.76-3.81 from taking basically all freshmen engineering courses. Hearing the admission decision by mid-July makes in hard to make any concrete plans and I was wondering if it was reasonable to expect to get in?

Thanks to anyone who could give me an idea of what to expect.
