I'm out of state for both schools so the instate tuition argument isn't really valid.

I visited both and I love both for different reasons. I've been accepted into Computer Science for both. I love UT's campus and I love Austin, but I do really feel like Georgia is more intimate and the degree is somewhat more valuable to employers. I love the study abroad program Georgia has that is really integrated with their curriculum, but I also love the Freshmen Research Initiative at UT.

I actually have no idea which school to pick, it's kind of a win win situation and my pros/cons list is just growing ridiculous. I'd really enjoy some outside perspectives! Thanks!

Are you transfer or freshman? I have applied for transfer to both as well for CompE. I haven’t received decisions from either yet, but I suspect I will be in the same spot as you if I get both. I think I prefer Georgia Tech. I’m not sure what it is, but I just feel more impressed by Tech. I did prefer UT’s campus, but both are very nice. I am also OOS for both, so same situation for tuition.

I am probably in a unique position in the fact that I lived in both downtown Austin and downtown Atlanta in my life time. For a student, I would say UT. The college scene in Atlanta is really a bit odd for me. But if you loved it, my opinion does not matter at ALL. Where do you want to work when it is all said and done? I know SV recruits hard and heavy at UT, but I am unsure how many students GT sends to SV each year. Is that even important to you? If you love music, then UT hands down. If you enjoy heavy party scenes, dance clubs, etc, then GT. If Greek life is important, UT has a stronger greek scene but it is only 10% of male students so it is not isolating if you are not wanting to go greek. UT computer science is highly collaborative. This sure comes in handy when you have to write code that takes 40 hours a week and you are permitted to work in teams.

@RyanAntony I’m a freshman!

@collegeshopping thanks! Yes I love music and am really into the music scene, and I personally preferred Austin when I visited. I’m leaning UT but yeah the money is really a drawback and I might just end up going to University of Washington, my instate university. I didn’t get directly admitted into CS there though, so that’s a drawback
