Hey guys, I’m currently a junior and have a weighted numeric average of 98.2110 and an unweighted numeric average of 92.1320. Compared to the average GPAs/numeric averages, is this weak if I would like to get into Georgia Tech? Please let me know. Thank you!
My unweighted GPA for my core classes (I calculated this by giving a 3 to all Bs, 4 to all As, and dividing by the total number of classes) is a 3.84. My weighted GPA for my core classes (+0.5 for AP classes only… should I be adding +0.5 for Honors classes as well?) is a 4.0.
With +0.5 for honors, it is a 4.3 weighted.
There are so many other factors that just a high GPA is not enough to chance you on GaTech admissions . You need to have four years of lab sciences, four years of math, and a very high score on the math portion of the SAT or ACT. You may want to take BC Calculus if it is available. If you are in state and the valedictorian or salutatorian, you will be guaranteed admission to GaTech. If you have ECs that are techy it may help some. Being a girl helps some. If you declare a major that is less popular that may help. CS and BME as well as mechanical engineering and industrial engineering are the really popular and crowded majors as I understand it. But since you cannot change your major again until after one semester, think carefully about your major before applying to GaTech.
