Georiga Tech vs Rutgers New Brunswick vs etc?

My choices at the moment are :
-all undergraduate

NYU Poly (Not NYU) - 35k / year
Georgia Institute of Tech - 35k / year (8k / year afterward if I apply for residency)
Rutgers New Brunswick Campus - 9k / year (Engineering)
Rutgers New Brunswick Campus - 9k / year (Pharmacy)

All my life I thought I would become an engineer, but as of late, the pharmacy field has seemed somewhat more appealing (likely due to its high salary)

As for NYU Poly, I've seen many bad ratings for this school, so I'm not sure if it's worth the cost for a sub-par education there.
Georgia Tech has phenomenal ratings, but at the same time many say it's a "trap into hell".
Rutgers, I'm split between engineering and pharmacy, and I can't decide which to pursue a career in. I'm pretty much a blank slate?

Academically, I believe I'm capable for an education at any of these schools. (SAT - 2400, GPA - 4.0/4.0)

For settings, I do enjoy the city life that NYU would offer, but I wouldn't sacrifice my education simply for an urban setting.

Thanks again for help in my decision!

Are you sure you can get residency in GA? It’s nearly impossible for an undergrad student.

I feel like most kids who go to GT and struggle either aren’t trying hard enough (because they think college is going to be 13th grade) or just can’t cut it as an engineer. I don’t think you’ll have either problem. The question is, how much is 26k/year to you and your family? Can you afford it?

I don’t know how Rutgers is but GT is hard to beat for engineering.

If you had a perfect SAT and 4.0 gpa, why didn’t you get a full ride at Rutgers? Rutgers awards full rides based on numbers only. I believe anyone IS with over 1500 CR+M/top 5% rank or 1550/top 10% gets a full ride from Rutgers. You also made a chances thread in the past that doesn’t have the same stats as you’ve claimed here so it looks pretty dubious.

There’s no doubt that if you want the best education, becoming a “ramblin’, gamblin’ helluvan engineer”. (GT)

Atlanta gives you the urban life that NYU has and it’s more known for Engineering. So let’s cancel out NYU. Now - what is your family’s financial situation?

Proving residency in Georgia is pretty hard. You have to prove somehow that you’re staying in Georgia for the long haul, such as buying a house or getting a job.

Ah, sorry about my past chances threads, those were in respect to my brother. (Who is now at NYU Steinhardt)

As for Rutgers, I haven’t gotten my financial award letter yet, I’m only basing it off the numbers from their website o.o

Financially, our family is in a bind, especially after sending off my brother to NYU. (Huge financial drawback).

What’s your financial package from Poly like?

it is as posted above

thats how much you have to pay, or your financial aid? :s

GA Tech is amazing for engineering. If you can financially handle it, I’d choose GA Tech.

that’s how much i’d be paying.
it seems a lot of people have veered towards GATech though.
Oh the decisions x.x

ewwwwwwww!!! dont go to Poly. you will regret it for the rest of your life. :frowning: just because too much $. financial pressures can really hold you down…truuuust me. I go to Poly and pay like 12k/year :s

oh you go to poly? disregarding finances, how is your experience there?

hi!
Here is how much i have to pay…
Rutgers school of engineering: 7-8k
NYU-Poly - 16k
TCNJ - 16k

I decided to go to Rutgers for two main reasons:

 1. School of engineering is better than engineering programs at TCNJ or poly… {some of you might not agree but i came to that conclusion after a lot of research.}
2. low COST!!!

its ok, aajaa. why, are you considering it? you can PM me if you have specific q’s about it
