I’m a comp. sci. major and I’m wondering if anyone can help me find the GEs I need to take? The comp sci website doesn’t really show them

just because you're that major doesn't mean that there is an exact predefined list as to what GE's you have to take, it is dependent on to which college you are in (i.e. Letters and Science, Engineering, Agriculture, etc)

If you're going to orientation over the summer, they will supply you with the thick general catalog (and lucky for you, it's the brand new one that was just released in mid-june). If you're not going to orientation, then I HIGHLY suggest that you ORDER a general catalogue (from the Bookstore), there should also be a web/pdf version available (at the registrar site online: UC Davis General Catalog | Home ), but you will be looking through this catalogue a LOT, so getting the paper version is much easier to flip through. The catalogue itself lists all of the available classes, pre-reqs, units, teachers who teach these classes, which quarter they are offered and more.

Within that catalogue, flip to the section with your major, and read the requirements. You can begin to make a schedule for your 4 years of what classes you need to take and when you can fill in your GE required classes.

Good LUCK! and if you have any other questions, let me know!

Thanks!
If it helps at all, i'm in letters and sciences.

oh well, ill just deal with it at orientation i guess

ok. so you will use this guide to keep you on track.

Degree Check - Undergraduate Students - College of Letters & Science, UC Davis

click on 'graduation requirement self check'

you are required to complete every section on this handout. on the second page, you will find information about your GE's. In the back of your general catalog, you can find the various classes that fulfill each particular GE. Some courses count for 2 different GE's, this is called a "double dip"; and some courses count for 3 GE's, this is called a "triple dip". If your major requires lots of units, I suggest trying to find triple dip classes so that you are not going over the 225 unit limit or taking summer session classes, but if not, then choose whatever classes you wish.

Courses that receive GE credit will the type of GE credit underneath each course's description. Mainly it is the intro courses (those with the number 1 or 10) that will be have GE credit. Examples include, HDE 12, MUS 10, FST 10, NUT 10, DES 1, ATM 6, AST 10.

thanks
do you mean we complete this at orientation?

no. i mean to graduate.

all you do at orientation is placement tests and sign up for classes on the last day. and listen to people talk, make new friends
