Hello!
There are 3 major requirements in B.A.Anthropology and what if I get a one B?
I believe schools like UCLA would expect students to get all As on those 3 courses!
Do I have no chance at all?
Thank you very much!

if your accepted, they should have a link that will show you conditions that you have to meet. if it says you have to earn an A, then it may affect you. if you have not applied, there is no telling how a lower GPA may affect you until you get an admissions decision.
Nah, you’ll be fine. Don’t worry.
many people will say your screwed, but i have seen many people with perfect GPA’s get denied in all UC’s.
@Cayton Let’s go for it! Thank you! @“Danny Soprano” I haven’t applied yet, I will apply this year in November!
Do your best to get an A though. we truly do not know if you will be fine or not.
@Danny Soprano
This is a good point, but if @laccstudent gets a good enough GPA to be competitive for anthropology(Which is not a competitive major anyway), getting a “B” in one major class shouldn’t be a problem.
Also, 4.0 students usually get denied because they failed to do something required of them to get admitted(like getting 60+ units done by the end of spring prior to transfer, or failing to complete all pre-reqs in a competitive major, like business econ or engineering).
@Cayton I have all A’s in other courses. However, it’s likely that I’ll get a B in- Anthropology Biology. And, I will try to get A’s in other course! Thank you very much.
I am almost done with IGETC. So far- I’m only left with one more English course (or Philosophy hmm). All A’s.
I have only 1 B in my major prep which is Calculus I, and I got accepted by UCLA.
Getting one B in your major prep should not jeopardize your chance since you are not in a selective major.
I got into UCLA as a Spanish major, and I earned two Cs in my last two spanish clases, I think it might have an effect, but i dont think its an auto reject. Im going to get a B in my spanish class this semester, i dont think my acceptance conditions have a major grade requirement.
I received a C in one of mine. It was from a disaster of a first go at school over ten years ago, but it was still a C.
Thank you very much everyone- this was really helpful. I will do very best!!!
Hello at the school I attend only a BA in anthropology is offered, when I transfer over I want to transfer to UCLA’s anthropology BS program. Will the units work out?
@hahaharman The B.S. program for Anthropology is a lot different than B.A. in Anthropology. First, there are tons of prereqs!
Anthropology 7, 8, 9, and 33
Chemistry and Biochemistry 14A, 14B, 14BL, 14C, and 14CL, or 20A, 20B, 20L, 30A, and 30AL
Life Sciences 1, 2, 3, 4, and 23L
Mathematics 3A, 3B, 3C, Stats 12 OR 31A, 31B, Stats 12, OR Life Science 30A, LS30B, Stats 13
Physics 6A, 6B, and 6C
http://www.anthro.ucla.edu/undergraduate/anthropology-bs-degree
These are all the classes you have to take.
If you have taken a full series of Physics, Calculus, Chemistry, and Life Science(Biology), you are fine. And there are four Anthropology courses.
Meanwhile, B.A. in Anthropology requires only those 3 out of 4 anthropology courses (7 or 8 , 9 and 33)
Hope this helped!
thank you!
@hahaharman there is stats also Take care!
Boy, take that B and go head.
I got two or three C’s in my major prep and was admitted to UCLA.
@UCLAFFF Yes! I will take that B and work hard toward other courses!
