Getting accepted after withdrawing apps! Confused!

Hey... well I am an international student and Emory is my dream school and I got in through ED...after getting in, I sent an email to every other university I've applied to and told them that I am withdrawing apps... however I have gotten acceptances from U. of Chicago, Notre Dame, Brandeis, Case and Colorado College... I am blessed that they decided to accept me but what do I do ... I did follow the rules and asked for my app to be withdrawn but it didn't work. Please give me some suggestions. Should I call the schools? Thanks

any suggestions?

that’s a pleasant surprise - a little nudge seems to always help.

that said, go to uchicago and don’t look back. top10 brand, top5 biz and law school, top15 med, top PHD programs - an unparalleled education. i heard it’s also becoming more mainstream with regards to its quirkiness (without changing the intellectual vibe too much).

srob

There are a few things to do:

***Send a note to your admissions rep at each school. They’re more likely to get it and do something about it than if you sent an email to the black hole called “admissions”.

***Mail a snail letter of this information. Be sure to use their updated addresses.

***Call the admissions office. If they “sound” distracted or not interested, then at least ask where you should sent an email.

This might seem like a hassle, especially because you’re already done your part, but don’t burn your bridges. You liked these colleges and may end up at one of them as a transfer or as a grad student. The college will totally appreciate your effort and can accept someone else as a result. You’ve made someone’s day and someday your kind deed will be returned.

bay… as I said I got into Emory ED and so I have to attend but also I WANT to attend. my dream school.

Thanks for the suggestions limabeans.

Get in contact with them in one of the ways limabean suggested ASAP. Politely let them know you actually withdrew your apps after your ED at Emory and move on.

It shouldn’t be a problem.

Just contact them again and tell them that you withdrew your app months ago after getting accepted ED to Emory.

It sounds like your earlier communications were never put with your file.

Congrats, alam1, Emory is a great school!
