Any shot at McCombs? This is my dream school... I love Texas, I need to stay close to home for my parents, and just love UT.

I’m not too familiar with the business school but I hate leaving threads unanswered. From what I’ve seen, though, I would think that you stand a decent shot. As I’m sure you’re aware, admissions to McCombs is highly selective and the competition has only gotten bigger and better. With this in mind, I would recommend a having back up plan. Some people see a rejection as the end of the road but transferring in is a completely viable option so you should keep that in mind.

I was just admitted to business this year… plus, I fell right outside of the top 10%. I didn’t have too many leadership positions or volunteer hours either - just relatively high test scores, rigorous classes at a school notorious for being competitive, internship, etc. So personally, I think you will be just fine (especially with that Shell internship - nice!!!). You definitely want to bring up that SAT score though, by just a little. And even then… I just came back from orientation and to be honest, many of the people I have met from business were much worse off than you (I mean like, highest level of math was regular Pre-Cal… what?). It was pretty surprising actually, considering the prestige McCombs is bathed in.

In other words, take the SAT again and you should be fine. Keep those grades up! And frever is definitely right as well!

You’ve got a good chance. Your SAT could be a little higher like the guy above was saying. Just study hard for that. Your rank is at the average level. There average acceptance is around the top 3% so keep that high or move up a few spots if you can. Your EC’s and work experience is great. that will definitely help!! I’d say youve got a 75% chance at the least depending on how competitive your year is

I’d say you have a decent shot considering your rank and extracurriculars. However, if you want to be more certain, raise your scores. I recommend taking the ACT as well and it may pleasantly surprise you (I scored close to you when I took the PSAT, but I ended up getting a 34 on the ACT which is equivalent to around a 2290) - it’s worth a shot. Also, what ethnicity are you?

Oh and for UTstudent’s post, McCombs no longer admits 75% of its class based solely on rank - it is holistic review now.
