Getting in UCSD, What are My Chances?

Hello everyone, thank you for reading this. I’m a junior in high school and I’ve been stressing over which schools I should attend for premed. I’m very adamant about leaving San Diego. First off, would going to SDSU for premed hurt me in the long run or should I strive for something better? Secondly, could I make it in UCSD? These are a list of the more significant things, I’ve left out smaller awards or tidbits that don’t seem at all necessary.
Freshman year I only had capability of taking regular classes because of issues with my transcripts. I became a cadet for AFJROTC and a manager for the school newspaper.
Sophomore year I took one advanced class (no honors or ap English are offered) with AP biology. I became Kitty Hawk NCO for the program and a member of Science Olympiad. I then joined Color Guard for ROTC (made it). I then won a national award for the program.
Then I went on to become an ambassador for a museum. I also advanced myself in math by one year to catch up.
Junior year, I am taking two honors and am Comptroller for AFJROTC, I am in science Olympiad, I started a volunteering club, and started Cross Country (unable to do track because of an injury).
Senior year I am taking two APS, no free periods.
I have been a peer tutor all these years and a member of APT (Awareness Presentation Program)
I have a cumulative GPA of 4.0. My semester GPA was a 4.2. My SAT is 1800. Thanks you guys!

ALSO, I only did the newspaper gig for one year, and I quit Color Guard to pursue running. I’m Hispanic from a low income household.

Your GPA is good so I would say you do have a chance for UCSD.

EC’s don’t have anything that stand out, but again, your GPA equals it out.

Your Stats look good for SDSU and their Pre-professional advising center is excellent if you plan to pursue Pre-Med. Your GPA is very competitive for UCSD, but SAT is on the low side. Retake and aim for a 2000+ to be competitive. If you are adamant about getting out of San Diego, you should consider applying to Cal Poly SLO/Pomona, UCSC, UCI, UCSB and UCD. The main focus for Pre-med undergrad is to keep costs low. If SDSU, is your cheapest option, definitely consider attending there but if you can raise your SAT a bit, you would have more options. Good Luck.

Thanks a lot! I raised my SAT score into the near 2100s and hopefully into the 2200s (I’ve been studying with my tutor and the Princeton Review tests). I’m taking three AP courses and I plan on pursuing an engineering degree when doing Premed.

Great job!
Congratulations!
