getting into closed sections

How easy is it to get into closed sections of classes? At orientation I heard a few people say there is "no such thing as a closed class" and I was wondering if it was true and how you would go about getting into the class. Emailing the teacher?

There is a class I'm interested in that fits perfectly in my schedule (I wouldn't have to move anything around!) but there is only one section and it's closed of course. I know I can keep checking on it and check the first week of school, but I'm wondering if there is anything I could do right now.

Thanks!

Make sure that you go to the first day of that specific class. Must, MUST go to the first day of class, definitely. See the teacher for permission numbers after class. You will enter that number when trying to sign up for close classes on webreg.rutgers.edu.

Some teachers might tell the class when going over the syllabus and what not about their policy of giving out permission numbers. Not ALL teachers will give out a special permission number, though. So be aware of that.

Thanks! I figured I’d have to do that, but I was hoping I could get the numbers now just so my schedule would be set. Luckily I would be able to go to the first class because it fits so nicely into my schedule.

The teacher is R. Palombit, anyone know if he tends to let people in?

all i know is i’m going to be in the business school next year so I wont be able to sign up for any classes until they officially accept me sometime in the next 2 weeks…

Oleosmirf, I hope you did signed up for at least 12 credts (full-time) of random classes while you wait for your admission to the business school.

yea im enrolled in 4 classes plus the transfer why?

I thought you meant you was going to wait till the business school accepts you before you sign up for ANY classes. That wouldn’t work out too well because you would need full-time worth of random classes to trade off for the full-time business courses once you get accepted. What major in business are you going for btw?

accounting major

i completed all the requirements with a 3.61 GPA and I went on Thursday to drop off my calc summer grade so everything is in…

ive been told by the Dean lady that I should be in no problem but if I dont get in for whatever reason i’m well f.u.c.k.e.d

Accounting major FTW

Applying to the business school is a big risk. If I don’t get in, I will be stuck with random classes such animal science, livestock, and cooking. I guess they are somewhat related lol
I’ll be so upset that I would use what I learn in cooking class to stew the livestock that wanders around douglass/cook which is where I will conveniently be dorming.

actually what i just found out was that they pick our schedule for us. Us accounting majors take Intermediate Accounting I, Accounting Information Systems, Intro to Financial Management, Statistical Methods in Business and the 1 credit Business Forum. (13 credits).

Before you ask, They say the two accounting classes require so much work that taking 5 classes would be too time consuming so that is why we only take 13 credits first semester…

Well, us transfers will be taking 14 credits (6 classes) because of the SIT course.
They will not create our schedules automatically as you may think. We still get to choose our days and times for the business classes.

well thats good at least. i’m very picky about times and especially what professors I have.

do you know when we find out about our acceptance?

also what about parking passes. Can we get a parking pass to park on Livingston b/c the bus from Douglass to Livingston can take 30 minutes at least…

I don’t know the exact date of when the business school will notify us, but I do know that it will be on the twentieth-something. August 14 will be the last day to submit outstanding documents and complete eligible courses, and Aug 18th-19th will be days for the business validation exams for people who took comparable business courses that did not transfer. Then when they notify us, we will go to orientation and choose our classes. I don’t think you can check out your professors because I think we are doing everything in paper…
