Hello everyone!! Kinda stumbled upon this site while searching on who I should have do my letters of recommendation. But I figured that out and have some more questions. I will just say it now, I did not have the best grades in high school and I didn't focus as much as I really should. I was a very socially awkward student and I was afraid to ask for help so I just did it on my own which normally resulted in me failing of getting a D. I changed that around my senior year and got all A's and B's and one C I think. My top choice school is Colorado State University in Fort Collins. I am majoring in Forestry with a concentration in Forest Fire Science. I was wondering what I could do to make up for my bad grades in HS in order to be looked at a little more by the school. I am willing to do whatever it takes just shoot me ideas :D Thank you all so much for helping me.

Do you live in Colorado?

I’m guessing that you’ve already graduated and were not accepted to CSU and you want an appeal, is this correct? I’ve heard that appeals are difficult at most schools.

It’s past time to be applying to CSU (or most four-year schools) for this fall. [Deadlines & Notification - Admissions - Colorado State University](http://admissions.colostate.edu/futurefreshmendeadlines)

Since you’ve had a rough time in high school, it may be better to start at your local Community College, working with the transfer adviser, to get a start. Then, when you’ve proven yourself there, and taken the required credits, you can transfer to CSU.

CSU is largely numbers-based, but there are two numbers involved - your GPA and your test scores. This page (loads slowly) will calculate your combined number and show you what schools you qualify for based on that number. [Calculate My Index Score - Colorado Department of Higher Education](http://highered.colorado.gov/Academics/Admissions/IndexScore/) or this one if that one gives you trouble [Index Score Flash Calculator - Colorado Department of Higher Education](http://highered.colorado.gov/Academics/Admissions/IndexScore/indexflash.html)

This page shows other requirements, such as high school classes, etc. [Course Completion - Colorado Department of Higher Education](http://highered.colorado.gov/Academics/Admissions/coursecompletion.html)

Good luck!

I guess I should have provided more information on who I am… Sorry about that But I am a 2011 high school graduate who has been attending a local community college for the past year and a half and I also just started my application to CSU for Spring 2013. I am just waiting on my SAT scores and my recommendation letter to get there. So I would be applying as an Undergraduate student. I live in Arizona by the way.
