I have pretty good grades-all A's excpet for a B+ in a college pre-calc class during my junior year, and a B- in a college physics class, and a C+ in a college chemistry class. I want to major in science too. I know some colleges weight your grades because the classes are harder, but does it seem like I could get into honors programs at places like University of Florida and South Carolina? My overall GPA will probably be between a 3.8-3.9 unweighted, and my ACT and SAT scores aren't that great. A 26 on the ACT and an 1100 on the SAT. I'll take both again, but I'm not expecting the scores to go up that significantly. I've involved in very few extracurriculars, but the ones I've been in I've been doing since elementary school for the most part. I visit elderly neighbors, figure skate, am running for secretary of NHS, and will probably be Editor of the yearbook. I've also done an internship at an optometry clinic, done major scientific research and attended a Math/Science Center that accepts 26 applicants out of 150 from 2 counties. It's basically an honors high school, but without the English, foreign language, and history classes.

The honors program at UF requires a 1400 SAT and a 4.0 GPA. Don't know about USC.

That's what worries me. My test scores are way too low, but the way UF weights my GPA should make it over a 4.0. I know that I would have no problem with an honors college because I have basically already been in one and still by far maintained the GPA required to stay in. I know that the college one will be harder than any high school program, but my GPA could go down by about .3 and I would still be fine. I'm just worried that at a place like UF where you have to be invited to apply, I won't make the first cut based on my original application.
