Hi. I’m a high school sophomore from Alaska and it’s been my dream to go to Pitt since I was about 8 years old.
I want to attend the nursing school, and I was wondering if any current students could give me advice on improving my chances of getting in one day. What kind of classes I should be taking, what they look for in a student, anything really!
I’m a very good student and I would do anything to get in.
Please let me know! I’d really, really appreciate it.
@jenn214 Make sure you check the requirements for admission on the Pitt School of Nursing website. Each school is slightly different with what courses they require for admission. See here: http://www.nursing.pitt.edu/admissions/high-school-requirements
In addition to the required courses, they also recommend that you take statistics, anatomy & physiology, genetics and a computer class if offered.
The average SAT (CR + M) for nursing is 1321. You have plenty of time to prepare. Take the most challenging course load you can handle and try to get some related experience (volunteer, work, etc).
Good luck!
