getting rejected like its my day job

so I got rejected from everywhere and I think I just realized why. I had miscalculated the number of units I had which was 59 and you obviously need 60 to transfer. My bright counselor just realized this in the middle of march, so I still had time to sign up for an extra 8 week class which will put me at 60 units by the end of this semester. however, I did not update it on the uc site until march..which was way after the jan 30 deadline (I did update my current classes before that deadline though). would this perhaps be an explanation for why they are rejecting me? would it be a good case for appeal? could the application reviewers really have just stopped reading my app once they noticed I have <60 units?

gpa - 3.5
major - poli sci
igetc done
pre-reqs done

rejected from... ucsd, uci, ucla (long shot I know), ucsb, ucsc
waiting on..... berkeley (lol)

geesus. totally appeal your decisions.

Well they want a student a Junior Standing but 59 units that’s really close. I say call the admissions office and ask if its an automatic rejection. You should appeal, what do you have to lose

man i feel terrible for u. that really sucks. im not going to UC Davis, UC Irvine or UCSB. you can have my spot. looool

i hope someone from Berkeley reads this…feels sorry for my dumbass and accepts me tomorrow lol

BTW it’s not a long shot. I’m a 3.4 poli sci major and got into all of those schools, waiting for Berkeley. It’s most definitely worth looking into for an appeal.

definitely appeal.

Couple of my friends were accepted to UCI, UCR, UCSD, and UCLA just recently. Some of them had 50-55 units but IGETC was completed and some of their prereqs fulfilled. You should’ve done TAG to secure some schools as backups.

Try to appeal, it wouldn’t hurt…

The worst case scenario is to get rejected again and wait for next year to reapply if you don’t mind waiting one more year

Of course, you could try to raise up your GPA even more and possibly have a better chance of getting into top tier schools next year

Good Luck!

I have a 2.8 gpa in poli sci and I got accepted to UCD, UCSB, and UCI so far, I’m pretty sure it’s because you don’t have the units, so appeal

sorry dude. but just wanted to say your thread title is funny. lol

Call admissions and ask them why you were rejected, if that’s the reason, then definitely appeal!

Good luck!

thats why i rely on myself instead of counselor…

I would definitely appeal, but also consider applying for winter quarter to UCSD, UCSB, UCI and UCSC.

And I agree with masteryoda, counselors constantly give out incorrect information. That’s why it’s SO important to double (even triple check) everything. :-(

Uhhhhh I have 56 units and taking summer sessions (even registered); I got accepted to UC Davis and waiting on Berkeley… 3.7 Econ Major, so even an impacted major also.

this is what my bright counsellor suggester for my fall 08…
linear algebra
differential equation
calculus III
macro economics
JAVA c++
suggested to take discrete somewhere else
english mo1a

but me smarter and wiser than her and look at me @ UCLA
neva lissen to counsellors only assist.org

yeah, i feel you with that. i got rejected by all 4 schools i applied to (unless by some god forsaken miracle berkley accepts me tomorrow) all because they didn’t accept one of my classes, leaving me with 58 units. apparently, all 4 schools emailed me on feb 17th saying i needed more units, and i swear on my whole life i never got these emails. never. so, i’m appealing and going to suggest that you do as well. i haven’t worked and busted my ass for one and a half year for this ********. i’m determined to fix this.

I’m seriously wondering how many appeals will be read that blame the counselors. Hahaha.

For the future transfers: Don’t trust your counselors, do the research yourself!

wasn’t there a statistic saying that about 90% of transfer students who apply to 4+ UC’s get accepted to at least one?

I haven’t heard back from ucsd or ucsb yet, but with one more day left i don’t like my chances. Anyways, if they both reject me, then i’ll be out of luck for the 4 colleges i applied to as well.

So much for statistics…

^^ but you are discrediting that 10% aside from the 90% haha

Statistics always account for that
