For orientation. How are you guys getting there? Im thinking about metrolink.. I dont have a car and no one can take me. Metrolink isnt that bad

Driving .

I know that some of my friends take the OCTA to a station, like the Santa Ana one. Use Amtrack to get to UCLA. I think the there’s an Amtrack stop right by UCLA. (I don’t really know how this works, but maybe I’ll try it someday.)

I just normally get someone to drive me though, but I guess that’s not really an option for you…

what you might want to check out is ucla’s vanpool. just google ucla vanpool and call them up. they can check with the van to see if there is an empty space for you (with multiple vans going to various places they will most likely have a space for you).

only downside is that it’s early. it’s $7 i think for a trip, but you should call them

not so much.
Only train station you’ll want to go to is union station, which is not by UCLA. But its still not a bad option - metrolink is much cheaper than AMTRAK tho.

(I’m speaking for myself, although I work for UCLA’s Transportation department.)

UCLA is on an Amtrak Thruway bus route between Torrance and Bakersfield; it also stops at the Van Nuys Train Station in the San Fernando Valley, which makes it popular for students who want to take the Pacific Surfliner to UCSB.

To the person who needs to come up from Orange County, I have a couple of suggestions.
- Vanpool – although it’s a creative option, because it is timed to accommodate commuters. You can call 310-206-RIDE and ask for some help and advice.
- Try Google Transit – if you want to take mass transit all the way from the OC, OCTA and Metro are on Google Transit. You’ll get a seamless (if not potentially time-consuming) itinerary: [Google Maps](http://www.maps.google.com).
- Find a carpool on Zimride, UCLA’s ridematching program. The URL is zimride.ucla.edu. You should have your ucla.edu e-mail address already and have no problem posting a ride.

Good luck!
