So I’m an incoming freshman ( I start the 22nd) and I have to make a 40 minute drive to UCSD. And that’s all good except since I’m a freshman I can’t get a parking permit. so that 40 minute drive is out. I need some advice as to ways can get to UCSD. Tuesday and Thursday I need to be there at 8:00 am. Monday and Friday at 10:am. Wednesday at 9:00am. I Live in Rancho Del Rey

UCSD has a big ride-sharing community.
@LaCalavera You could also simply try finding street/metered parking, but that may or may not be difficult to find.
I have to drive to UCSD too, but only its only a 25-30 minute drive (I live in El cajon). I filed for an exception on the 7th, which was the last day to file one, and was able to get my permit last night. I have to file an exception for every quarter, so you can try to get one winter and spring quarters. Also, try to e-mail or call the people who sell the permits, and explain your situation. I am sure they’d be happy to help you get a permit for fall.
I live in a neighborhood close to UCSD where many students park. In my area the spaces on the street (no time limit parking) are full by 7 am once school begins. One area that you may try for street parking is La Jolla Scenic Drive North. There is 2 hour parking along this street nearer to UCSD, but further along there is no time limit. I go to the YMCA off this street and see many students parking here. You probably have a 15-20 minute walk just to get to the edge of campus near the La Jolla Playhouse so depending on where your classes are you need to leave plenty of time.
There may be some street parking near all of the apartments/condos off Nobel and Lebon, but you need to check that out before school starts to make sure you could find a place to park. The advantage of parking over there is that you could catch the 201/202 Superloop bus once parked and get to campus that way.
